Q:
What is Adminpal? |
A:
Adminpal is a managed service for auditing your hardware and
software. |
Q:
How do I use it? |
A:
First you need to create an account. Then log into your
account and download the auditing client via the "Download" link. After
you install the client, you're ready to start Auditing! If you need more
detailed help, check out our walkthrough |
Q:
How does it work? |
A:
When you perform an audit, the results are sent to our database
via an encrypted (SSL) connection over the Internet. In order to view the
results, simply log into our web site
Q:
Why do you send the audit data back to your sever? |
A:
We have two goals: one is to make auditing as easy as
possible, and the other is to offer the most comprehensive reports
possible. Most auditing packages require the installation of their party
databases such as Oracle or MS SQL Server. By hosting the database
ourselves, we eliminate all the problems associated with the installation and
configuration of a database. By hosting the reports on our web server,
our customers instantly have access to new and improved reports as we create
them - there is no need for them to upgrade anything. |

Q:
What are the requirements? |
A:
You need to be an administrator on the domain or on the PCs you
are auditing. Our software also requires Windows 2003, Windows
XP, or Windows 2000. For more details see the requirements page. |
Q:
Why should I choose Adminpal over another Software Package? |
A:
Many similar packages need an agent installed on each client
machine. Others require you to modify domain logon scripts to include
calls to their software. Almost all of them require some type of database
be installed. Adminpal requires none of those things. Our pricing
is also very
competitive. |

Q:
How secure is the data I collect with Adminpal? |
A:
Your data is always transported securely via HTTPS. Our servers
are patched daily, and the confidentiality of your data is guaranteed in our
privacy policy. |

Problems
Q:
I installed the Adminpal Auditor on my PC, but when I try to
run it, it asks me to log on. What's going on here? |
A:
When it asks you for a User ID and Password, use the ones you
created earlier when you registered for an account on our website.
Remember that Adminpal is a service, and that the audit data is stored in our
database. It needs your account information in order to store your data
correctly. |

Q:
When I try to audit a certain PC, the audit always
fails. What's wrong? |
A:
There are several possibilities. One is that you don't have
the authority to perform the audit. You need to be either a domain
administrator, or a local administrator on the PC you are trying to
audit. The PC also needs to be running Windows 2003, XP, or 2000.
Windows NT 4.0 is supported if
WMI is installed. |

Q:
Why are my reports empty? |
A:
The most common reason this would happen is because you haven't
audited anything yet. If you have already audited one or more machines
successfully,
then you may not be looking in the right place. When you click "Analyze"
on the main menu after you log into our website, you'll notice there are
several rows (you can store the results of different audits separately, if you
choose). Make sure you click "Details" on a row that contains data (you
should see the number of machines and the date and time it was audited
last). |
