Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Film, as well as video, often exhibits a greater sensitivity to what is to us invisible, ultraviolet light. This is most often outdoors, especially at high altitudes, where the UV-absorbing atmosphere is thinner; and over long distances, such as marine scenes. It can show up as a bluish color cast with color film, or it can cause a low-contrast haze that diminishes details, especially when viewing far-away objects, in either color or black-and-white. Ultraviolet filters absorb UV light generally without affecting light in the visible region. It is important to distinguish between UV-generated haze and that of air-borne particles, such as smog. The latter is made up of opaque matter that absorbs visible light as well as UV, and will not be appreciably removed by a UV filter. The UV Protector shields lens from dust, moisture, scratches, and breakage.

Amazon.com Product Description

4 out of 5 stars Note to filter reviewers....   September 4, 2008
Amazon lumps together ALL the Tiffen filter reviews. So unless you specify which specific filter you are reviewing, no one will know! This makes all those reviews that say something like, "this filter made my pictures too dark/light/red/green/whatever" totally useless.

Amazon tends to lump together similar products (like all or many cameras from one manufacturer), so in general it is a good idea to specify the product you are reviewing in your Amazon reviews.

5 out of 5 stars Quite acceptable!   August 31, 2008
I have no problem whatsoever with this filter; one thing I noticed is that you get a large amount of internal reflection if you use it with a deep lens like Nikon's 50mm f/1.8. Get a more heavily anti-reflective-coated one if you're going to use it on that lens!

4 out of 5 stars Good filters at affordable price, works with D60   August 21, 2008

Pros:
- 3 filters together at very affordable price.
- Can be threaded on the D60 lens
- Filters can be threaded over one another. (Polarizer on the UV filer)
- Carry case included in the price. Good for handling the filters without risk of scratching.
- Improves image quality a lot depending on the type of filter.
- Guide book supplied is also useful to decide which filters to use in what situation.

Cons:
- none so far

5 out of 5 stars Tiffen 52mm UV protection filter   August 17, 2008
I bought this filter to simply serve as protection for the front of my lens. Great price, and quality from Tiffen is nice.

5 out of 5 stars works as advertised   August 17, 2008

Works fine so far! This filter is inexpensive but works as advertised. You simply MUST put a filter on your high-dollar lenses, or risk damage to the glass of the lens.
