More than happy... September 27, 2008 I use this flash extensively as a wedding photographer. I purchased the Gary Fong diffuser and it gives me even more superb images. I'm pleased that I purchased this flash.
My only complaint is the less than informative manual. Other than that, it's a great investment.
Sony HVL-F56AM flash August 18, 2008 Had to wait for a month as the flash was shipped to my brother (US only shipping). Just used it extensively (+400 pics) at a wedding with great results. Tried and failed to trigger the flash by wireless signal from Alpha 100 camera (must read the manuals again, I suppose).
Excellent Flash June 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I cannot for the life of me figure out how I got along so long without this flash! I photograph old bars and taverns and most of these places are very dark inside. Short of asking the owner or manager to turn on the lights, I have had to painstakingly take the pictures in the dark and hope to lighten them up later. With this flash, you have nothing to worry about. You can control the length of the flash and there are so many other great features, it's hard not to recommend this flash. It comes with a manual and a stand so you can use it with a remote, but it is practically user friendly. Getting aquanted with it took no time at all and the manual is great for just in case I need the help, it is easy to figure out on your own. No brainer, if you need a flash for your Sony DSLR Camera, this is definately the one.
works with minolta 5D May 12, 2008 I own a Minolta 5D camera with a Tamron 28-300mm lens and developed a need for a flash. I heard this flash would work so I tried it. it works flawlessly, I can adjust the angle to bounce light off ceilings for perfect pictures. The unit has good flash distance for the zoom lens and does work wirelessly or remotely. I am still playing with the bouncing of light off walls as this flash head swivels both left and right.
Awesome Flash! May 2, 2008 As an aspiring photographer, I must say that this flash is amazing. Has everything you expect from a high quality flash unit. The only things that I would change if I could would be the fact that it doesn't feel very solidly secured on the hot shot (it wiggles a bit). This is probably do to the fact that the contact points on the camera and flash are plastic. The only other thing is that this flash doesn't come with a bounce card like some of the Canon and Nikon flash units. This isn't a problem for me since I use a diffusion dome.
