Product Description A tripod helps a photographer get sharp, crisp pictures and video. Unfortunately, many tripods are often bulky and heavy so some are reluctant to carry them along for many outdoor shoots. Fortunately, there is Modo. The MANFROTTO 785B Modo Maxi Tripod is a unique tripod that extends to a useful 59.2 inches high yet can fold down to about 17 inches. For low angle images, the bottom of the innovative center column is designed to twist off, and the three variable leg angles allow the tripods to reach 6.9 inches from ground level. Developed with a versatile hybrid head, the Modo can be used with both digital camera and video equipment. With the touch of the safety button, the quick-release plate allows the user to easily switch between cameras and equipment, making capturing family, vacation and everyday moments simple. With a practical, sleek black anodized aluminum finish and a total weight of about 2 pounds, the 785B Modo tripod is designed to deliver a wide range of photo opportunities in many places and situations without angst. As a hobbyist or professional focusing on getting the best shots, that's a really good thing. Get the Modo today. It's a perfect tool for the creative artist. Maximum Load Capacity - 2.2 pounds (1 kg) Weight - 2.16 pounds (0.98 kg)

Light, easy to use, sturdy July 8, 2008 Had a chance to use this product on a few occasions, and for my light setup, has far exceeded any expectations.
Very light and easily adjustable. Takes seconds to set up a shot. Head is sturdy.
Only real negative is if you're looking to take panoramics w/ stitching, the head is not made for it. Also wish you could remove the head for storage/travel.
A Great Tripod For Light Equipment July 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I really like this tripod. It goes very well with my Canon Rebel Xsi and most lenses (50mm, 18-55mm...).
Pros: - Good price for a Bogen/Manfrotto. - Light, great for travel. - Good build quality. - Very easy to use and to get it into the configuration you want. - Goes from 6.9 inches to 59 inches (1.50 meters)!
Cons: - Will not handle heavy equipment-over 2.2 pounds. - Panning (shooting panoramas) is harder than when using more expensive tripod ball heads.
Overall it's a great tripod, with some limitations. If you know you will not have more than 2 pounds in equipment and given the price range, I highly recommend it.
Good until it broke.... April 19, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
When I bought this about a year ago I thought it was great: sturdy, lightweight, and made of good material. Fits my Canon 400D and Nikon D80 well and everything was good until it broke yesterday. IT IS NOT WATERPROOF!!! If your a nature photographer like me, then make sure you don't get the whole thing in water. I dropped mine, by accident of course, about 20 feet into the water, and when I found it, part of the leg was stuck so I tried to push it together and then pull it apart and it just pulled right apart. I was pissed now realizing that what I thought was a good tripod could not stand up to water. Overall this was a good tripod until it broke and I'll be attempting to buy a waterproof manfrotto soon....
Manfrotto 785B tripod - Good tripod for travelling March 16, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This little tripod is great for traveling. I mounted my D200 + 17-55mm lens on it was quite stable. The only bad thing is the non-removable head. Then again what do you expect for a $80 dollar product. It beats carrying a 6lbs (with head) tripod when you go on a trip...
To increase the stability, just hang some weights on the tripod and that should do the job.

This is a great travel tripod. It is very light and small. And with the head off will almost disappear in a 22" roll aboard suitcase. I use it with a hand held video camera and can easily handle my canon 40d. Would I walk more then arms length away from it? No probably not. but my camera would probably be gone if I did. It is grate for long exposures and steadying video. The most important thing is that it is small enough that I bring it with me.
