3 out of 5 stars Less than perfect tripod   August 17, 2008
This compact tripod is good if you are wanting to do close ups of small items, but when you extend the legs there is no stability.

4 out of 5 stars Perfect, almost   March 12, 2006

I wanted a small tripod for my digital camera. This one works best if you leave the legs collapsed as they use a slip fit with no lock capability. The working height is 3-1/2 inches with the legs collapsed, and 5-1/2 when extended. The thumb-locking ball-head allows you to level the camera if placed on an angled or rough surface, such as a log or rock. Because of the small size of the tripod footprint, you will probably need to hold the tripod down if you tilt the head over for a vertically framed shot if the legs are collapsed. Fairly heavy for its size, but small enough for a gadget bag pocket. Good deal for under $10. If the extended legs locked in place I would give it 5 stars.

3 out of 5 stars Fine for what it is   October 14, 2005

I have used better tabletop tripods, but this one is certainly servicable, as long as you do not exceed the weight capacity. It works just fine for most point and shoot cameras. Don't try to use it with an SLR. I tried it with an original Canon Digital Rebel with the lightweight kit lens. The extendable legs slid in a little and it was too front heavy, even positioning the legs to minimize the fulcrum point.
The ball head tension screw worked modestly well - again, a little too much weight would overcome it.
