Product Description
QP Card 101... The easiest, most cost-effective aid for balancing digital images. Even with correctly set and calibrated computers, software and monitors, you must balance a digital image against the monitor. A guaranteed neutral grey surface in the image simplifies balancing. It is complicated to carry around a cumbersome grey card and position it at a suitable place in the subject. In addition, the grey card becomes thumbed, dirty and faded from the light, so that after a while it is no longer neutral grey. QPcard solves these problems. QPcard is small, lightweight and inexpensive. The size of the card is 142mm x 40mm (About 5 1/2" x 1 1/2"). The Qpcard 101 is a strip of paper with white, gray and black colors. A pad of 15 QPcards comes in a protective resealable foil bag that fits easily into a camera case or pocket. The cards have adhesive on the back so that they can be attached to virtually any surface. The grey surface is completely neutral and reflects 18% light. A white and black patch can be used for contrast adjustment. In addition, the card can be used as a dimensional reference. The paper is used to get a 'gray scale reading for reference when color balancing your monitor using photoshop. Qpcard is also a self-adhesive multi-function reference card for digital images shot by digital cameras or scanned from negatives or slides.

2 out of 5 stars Made of thin paper - easily damaged - got wet - worthless   June 19, 2008

I was disappointed with these - you can't tell how light and thin they are from the photos. They are made out of light paper. I would have gotten something more durable and not wasted money on these if I had known. When they are in the camera bag they get crumpled and damaged easily, and if they get wet (I should have known!) they turn into a soggy mess. For a paper card printed with black, grey and white paint, these are too expensive.

5 out of 5 stars Nice small card   April 19, 2008
Up to now I used only the white part of it to get custom white balance. It is amazing how accurate the colors are! Very useful!

4 out of 5 stars 3 cards (not a pad)   February 22, 2007

You might be confused (as I was) by the description referring to "a pad of 15 QPcards" but it's actually only 3 cards. That said, the cards are a good size for carrying in the camera bag, and come in a resealable envelope.

4 out of 5 stars Great for color and exposure   February 10, 2007

I use these cards to take a raw digital image that I can then use to get an initial color and exposure adjustment on my following images. It is small enough for my small camera bag.
I would prefer a more rugged coating, but the price is right!

5 out of 5 stars Pretty Good   February 27, 2006

These are pretty good for digital photography colormatching. Through there are more precise methods out there involving lots of color samples and lots of steps (I should point out that those are necessary in print matching since printers don't print white and usually don't use color ink to make black),these get it right 99% of the time. To use them just take one picture with the card in it and shoot the rest of your pictures useing the same white ballance and color settings in the camera. load the picture with the card into your favorite editing program and equalize the RGB levels, use LEVELS in photoshop, for the white and the black. do the grey last as you will probbably need to match it useing color curves instead of levels (or else you'll change your white and black settings at the same time). save the color corrections (or remember them) and apply them to all subsequent photographs.
