I love this product! July 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this product! It is SO easy to use and it packs without taking up any space in my camera bag. I had a ton of dust on my sensor from going to the beach. I blew out my sensor everyday but there were still stubborn dust specs that would not go away. I almost bought the liquid cleaner but I heard that it can be difficult to use and leave streaks on the sensor. I didn't want to ruin my sensor and I didn't have $80.00 to spend on sending my camera in to get it cleaned. This lenspen was just perfect and it was 3 times cheaper...it really works. I used it 1 time and all the dust is gone......should have 49 more uses out of it.
Disappointing December 25, 2007 0 out of 9 found this review helpful
The product comes with no written instruction, but instead points you to their website where you find a slow moving video that is as much marketing as instruction and that says, at one point, NOT TO USE THIS BRUSH TO CLEAN THE SENSOR! Now isn't that the very usage it's sold for???
Nearly useless May 12, 2007 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
The pen is supposedly designed to reach the corners as well as the surfaces of the imaging sensor on digital SLR cameras. It may work just fine on some model cameras with smaller sensors (or larger sensor cavities), but on a Canon 5D it is worthless. The circumference of the pen itself is too large. In order to get close to the corners with the cleaning tip you have to tilt the pen at an extreme angle. This angle causes the flat cleaning surface to not make contact with the sensor. Since the shipping and handling was a large percentage of the total cost, and the item was not very expensive, it's not even worth it to me to deal with sending it back or trying to get a refund. It did seems to work on the parts of the sensor the tip could reach, but the poor shaft design and the inability of the tip to reach the corners makes it a useless item for me.
Absolutely amazing! April 29, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I had been wondering about strange blurry objects in some of my pictures - turned out to be dust and fibers on the image sensor. First I tried a blower (Giottos Rocket Air Blaster), as recommended, and this got some of it off. I then tried an expensive set of swabs with Eclipse fluid. This helped, but there were still visible dust spots.
Then I tried the Sensor Klear. It seemed almost too simple - a turn of the cap, a few wipes of the sensor with the triangular tip, and then done. I took another picture (f22, infinity focus, of blue sky). ALL of the dust was gone!
What delights me even more is that the Sensor Klear is safe to take on an airplane, which Eclipse fluid is not. This will be very handy when I go on my vacation later this year.
You do still need a blower to get rid of larger particles first, as advised in the Sensor Klear instructions, but I see little need for expensive and complicated wet cleaning solutions as long as I have a Sensor Klear. Highly recommended.
I do own it and it works just fine January 25, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
OK, to be fair we also sell these. Most DLSR's have glass over the sensor to protect from damage. I checked with the the manufacturer and they have no issues with customer complaints about camera damage. We've sold quite a few and have had no reports of sensor damage. In my opinion, the American Recorder Cleaning kit does a better job, but it's 3x as much to buy. Also - if you're not sure of what you are doing, and not prepared to accept the risk of doing damage - you should not clean the sensor yourself - no matter what you would use to do it.
