Amazon.com Product Description The Joby GP2-01P Gorillapod makes taking digital photos more fun than ever. Designed with self-timer photography in mind, the Gorillapod lets you mount your camera just about anywhere you want so that you can include everyone in your automatic shots. All you need to do is use the universal 1/4-20 screw to attach your camera to the standard tripod mount, then wrap the three flexible segmented legs securely to a nearby tree branch, fence, park bench, or anything else that's convenient. Say goodbye to holding your camera at arm's length to take a photo of yourself and your friends--now you can be free to pose however you like! Durable and innovative, the Gorillapod weighs just 5.8 ounces, or 165 grams, and can support cameras--such as DSLRs--weighing up to 1.75 pounds, or 800 grams. Measuring just 9.8 inches in length, the Gorillapod fits easily into a purse, backpack, or even a roomy jacket pocket.
Product Description The Gorillapod SLR firmly secures your SLR camera or Compact camcorders to just about anything, anywhere and everywhere. The Gorillapod SLR doesn't require an elevated flat surface for you to take the perfect shot unlike traditional tripods. Habitat - Everywhere

Excellent, flexible mounting for lightweight gadgets July 25, 2008 Joby has put together an ingenious little product that provides a stable platform to mount a lightweight digital camera or serve as a stand for an iPod.
The Gorillapod is made up of a number of rubberized plastic balls that each are moveable. The result is a product that you can wrap around posts, chairs, trees, etc. You can also turn it into a plain old miniature tripod.
The package comes with three different connectors that snap into the Gorillapod. There's a suction cup (for mounting an iPod/iPhone), a permanent adhesive connector (for attaching to a device), and one with a standard tripod mount for attaching a digital camera or any other device that supports a standard tripod mount.
PROs The Gorillapod is well constructed and very easy to stabilize. It is flexible but seems to hold the position it is set to. It doesn't take much work to balance it on its three flexible legs, and it's even easier to wrap it around something snugly. The suction cup has a little lever to lock it into place and was very well thought out. It attached itself securely to my iPhone 3G.
CONs Not many but I do have a few. First it would have been nice if the Gorillapod folks came up with some way to keep all of the little connector pieces together. I know I will lose the suction cup connector or the tripod connector. It's just a matter of time! As good as it feels now, I wonder how rigid it will be after a few months of continually readjusting. It already feels noticeably loser than when I opened the package earlier this evening.
CONCLUSION I am very pleased with the Gorillapod and plan to use it quite extensively. I am most excited about the fact I can mount my video light on it and be able to attach it to just about anything in a room. This particular version of the Gorillapod is designed for lightweight devices only, so be sure to look for one of the heavier duty models if you plan to use larger devices like a digital SLR.
Fantastic invention. Holds all kinds of personal electronics! July 25, 2008 What a great invention! This is an improved camera tri-pod that's been updated so it can be used with all kinds of electronics such as palm pilot, ipod, cell phone, etc as well as a point and shoot camera.
For the camera, it is useful because you can be in the photo as well . You can put it on a table but you can also wrap it on a fence or a branch or place it on an uneven surface. Group photos without one member having to be missing to take the photo. So cool!
For video ipods, you can watch movies on a plane without having to hold it. You can put it on the traytable and just watch. The suction grip is included and is pretty sturdy. My husband likes to keep his ipod touch on his desk and can view it without having to hold on to it. Very useful.
It also comes with clip attachments for other electronics. I would recommend it even just use with the camera alone! Love it!
Great versatile Tripod, works for what it's meant for July 25, 2008 It does what It says it will do. It'll hold your "pocket size" cameras just about were ever & how ever you want it to. This tripod is not meant for cameras that weight a decent amount! Refer to my note at the bottom of the review for more... As long as you have a smaller/average sized camera it'll work just fine.
I used this with my Vado pocket video camera and it's a great fit for it! I can use a bookshelf edge to slide the legs around and hold the cam in place while I play with my niece and nephew or am setting up a practical joke to play on a family member.
It's parts:
Try pod itself: They are ball and socket type pieces that fit pretty tightly together and offer a good amount of restricted movement to put your cam the way you want it to be.
Tripod legs: They have rubber banding around each joint and the ends of the feet are capped in some quality rubber, by that I mean they are not going to fall apart but they will help hold the device in place, say on a metal pole or whatever you are trying to wrap the legs around.
Clip holder on tripod: it has a locking mechanism to hold the clips in place so they don't just slide off and your cam hit the ground and break, great idea. Also that locking mechanism have a lock for it as well so you can't accidentally hit the button and cause your cam to fall.
Clips included: 1 screw mount - I liked how it's setup for a nickle or quarter to be used to tighten down the screw into the camera, rather convenient so you don't have to keep a screw driver handy, it's curved just like it should be for a nickle or quarter to be used.
1 suction cup - It has a clamp that you fold over to give it some real suction power to hold any smooth surfaced device on tightly, like cell phones and PDAs and so on.
2 adhesive clips - basically peal and stick on clips for those items you want to use with the tripod but they aren't smooth enough for the suction cup and don't have a screw mount built in. They are really low profile so that's an extra benefit, they don't take up hardly any room.
NOTE: Not for larger cameras, I decided to put my Canon S3 IS on top of this thing and yeah, it did OK while the legs were put straight up and down, but the second you try to hold it any other way the camera sags or the legs bend down, granted the Canon S3 is no small camera, but I just wanted to know how it would do. It is doable with this tripod, but only in certain situation. Would work good when you need that table/floor level shot for what ever reason.
Exceptionally Well-Designed July 24, 2008 I bought this product to serve as a mini-tripod for my digital cameras. I had pretty minimal expectations, given my past experiences with mini-tripods, none of which was very adaptable to real-world needs.
I'm happy to report the Gorillapod Go-Go far exceeds my pre-conceptions. In spite of its light weight, and compact size, its design enables it to support a fairly substantial camera, and on uneven surfaces. This is because the three legs each have about about ten "joints" which can be independently positioned to form a much wider base than might be thought. The legs can also "wrap" around another object to provide additional stability.
And the bottom of each leg has a high-grade non-slip material which prevents movement, even on a very smooth or sloped surface. The suction cup adapter also provides additional support possibilities on difficult surfaces.
The bottom line is that it works wonderfully for both my macro-photography efforts, and as a movable support for a security camera (for example, in keeping an eye on kids who are in different locations at differing times of the day and night).
I give this one a A for both design and functionality.
A nice alternative to the standard mini-tripod when you are on the GoGo! July 24, 2008 I have seen write-ups on the Gorillapod before and took the opportunity to get firsthand experience with the Joby GP1-M1EN Gorillapod GoGo Flexible Tripod with Suction Cup & 2 Adhesive Clips (Grey). The package includes the Gorillapod GoGo Flexible Tripod with a traditional tripod mount, a suction cup and two adhesive clips. This provides you with a couple of mounting options for your devices, even if they do not have a tripod mount.
With the GoGo version targeted more for handheld electronics, I have used it with a Zoom H2 microphone, a Sanyo Xacti VPC-E1, and a Nokia N800, and I am very happy with the functionality and improvement, you could say the...um...flexibility, over my other mini-tripod. I plan to try it with my webcam to get better positioning for use with Visual Communicator's teleprompter, too.
This was a good introduction to the Gorillapod product line for me, and I will be looking at the other model to get one to have for my camera, too!
