3 out of 5 stars Nice all-in-one with one big glitch   September 19, 2008

I bought this in late 2007 to replace a scanner (Epson Perfection 3170) and an earlier photo printer (Epson Stylus Photo R200) and gain a copier while reducing the amount of wiring and items on my desk. I was happy to learn that it uses the same six printer cartridges as the R200, which is good because I had a few extra, but disappointed that it perpetuates the same insipid glitch. That is: If you are out of, say, magenta ink, or cyan, or any of the other five colors but still have plenty of black, you cannot print. Even if all you want to do is print out a simple text document on plain paper in blank ink, you cannot print. You cannot print or copy AT ALL if any of the colors is out, even if you are not using them. This is an annoyance, and an expense in cases where you might just want to use the device as a text printer for a while. If this is an across-the-board feature of the Epson line, I may look elsewhere for my next printer/copier. My father's HP does not have this problem.

1 out of 5 stars negative scanning is horrible to non-existant   September 11, 2008

The negative scanner will chop photos randomly, if it scans them at all. Usually it won't recognize that there is anything on the scanner at all and when switched to normal mode it scans part of the negative tray...lovely. I had some of these same issues with an Epson flatbed/negative scanner years ago, seems like they're sending out the same crappy and bugged software. I think this will be the last Epson product I own.

1 out of 5 stars TERRIBLE TERRIBLE printer!!!   July 16, 2008

I will never buy another Epson printer as long as I live. The printer has a mind of it's own and tells you when it's "out of ink" even when the ink cartridge is half-full and won't let you print anything else until you replace it... and the ink cartridges are EXPENSIVE!

If that weren't bad enough, our printer flat out STOPPED WORKING after 18 months of use!!! It STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF A PRINT JOB and gave an error message telling us that the parts in the printer were at the end of their service life, even though the pages from the first half of the print job looked fine. It will not print anything else until we replace the dumb parts. IF YOU BUY THIS PRINTER, YOU WILL SPEND A LOT OF MONEY ANF NOT GET VERY MUCH USE OUT OF IT!

SOOOOO NOT WORTH IT!!!

I honestly would not accept another Epson printer if they PAID me to!

1 out of 5 stars BAD, BAD, BAD EPSON RX620   April 22, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

While this printer does do a beautiful job printing in vivid color, the paper feed is a nightmare. This is my 3rd replacement or refurbished printer Epson support has sent me. All have this problem!!! The first one I purchased at Costco and after a week or so of printing, it pulled near 25 sheets at once and broke something. The 2nd replacement did the same. This 3rd one has me SEEING RED as it too is messing up on paper feed and alignment. And you can never replace the print head...you must replace the entire printer. SAVE YOUR MONEY and get something else like a Canon. AND EPSON SUPPORT IS A JOKE - Epson's phone support sends you out to the Philippines....with people that merely go through scripted talking points and never offering up a solution to the problem you're calling about. There is a communication barrier and a half second time delay over the phone. Its like a bad cellular connection and what's worse, while the folks are polite, they are not trained to take things any further then running basic tests any print novice already has done prior to making the call and waiting on-hold. To that end, I will never buy another Epson product as they don't support their products well. Bad, Bad, Bad - 3 strikes, you're out!

1 out of 5 stars don't buy, stupid features and requirements   February 25, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

This is an absolute piece of junk. Do not buy. I usually have high tolerances for non-perfect equipment but this is going way too far.

My biggest complaint? YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING WITHOUT ALL INKS BEING AVAILABLE! This doesn't sound bad initially since its a printer and all but realize this means you can't print in B&W only if you're out of color. You can't print only in blues if the red is out. You can't do anything.

Once even one of the ink cartridges are out, you basically do not have a printer anymore. Even the damn scanner/copier won't work without color cartridges. Its the dumbest feature ever.
