Have you ever seen the old cartoons of the crash dummies? When they get hit in a particular spot on their chest, they just fall to pieces, which happens to this headset quite frequently in my case. In normal wear, stepping just a little to hard can jar the ear bud and loop loose, sending the whole headset to the ground. It just wont stay together. I have been very disappointed, as I expected more from the Plantronics line.

I don't know if it does this only to me, but it's very noisy
and I can hear a lot of static.
Other person in a call has difficulties hearing me most of time.
I only like the design of this product(so 2 stars).
Plantronics 655 a disappointment June 1, 2008

I bought the Plantronics 655 after reading the rave review by CNET and also for the accessories that comes with it. I use it with my Nokia 6110 as a hands free device while driving. The sound quality is poor(soft and crackles) and the connection always drops even though my phone is just besides me inside the car.
I also owned a Plantronics 510 and I must say that it is a lot better. The sound is loud, clear and the signal is more stable. The only complaint that I have about the 510 (and it applies to the 655 as well) is that when I receive an incoming call and if the headset is not already on, it does not always automatically pick up the call.
I would not recommend the 655.

I read all the reviews and thought I new what it was all about but found it to be even a bit short of my expectations which weren't set real high
1, range - i wear it on my left ear. if i hold my phone in my right hand it will sometimes start getting a week signal. this lack of distance is really just unacceptable
2, sound - everyone i have asked knows i'm talking through something. they say it sounds like i'm in a tunnel.
3, the ear pieces - if they fit your ear it will probably work well. if they don't you'll have to come up with a solution. i have chosen to use the smallest one and 'hang' it in my ear because the other two don't fit well and i don't have 10 minutes to try to make the thing fit.
4, the ear hook - i tried it - it doesn't flex and hold a position like other ear pieces. it's just a somewhat hard piece of plastic that wants to return to it's shape thereby making it uncomfortable and not to helpful.
I am disappointed in the product.
 The bluetooth gets 3 stars but Plantronics gets 5 April 22, 2008

I had a Jabra before this Plantronics which I had to order through our approved office supply vendor. The Jabra sound quality wasn't great but the piece was durable and talk time reasonably long. I bought the 655 and was mostly pleased with the sound quality. However, the ear gels would fall off, I needed to replace them through e-bay; the talk time lasted merely 60-90 minutes maximum (charging both via AAA battery and 120 AC); and the ear loop finally fell off and couldn't be found. I called Platronics to find out how to get an ear loop and used my call to outline my disappointment. They said the talk time should be 3-4 hours and they would send me a new one which they did. I just rcvd so unable to see if talk time is any better. Kudos to Plantronics customer service.... This is they type of service that will get me to buy another product from them.
