The stylish S9 wireless headphones fit comfortably behind the ear and weigh just over an once.
The S9 phones make a terrific workout partner thanks to the wireless technology and the water- and sweat-resistant design. Want to listen to your iPod at the gym without getting tangled in wires? Buy an iPod Bluetooth adapter and you're set. Alternatively, you can listen to your mobile phone's music selection during tough workouts, or even music from your home stereo while lifting weights nearby using the DC800 stereo adapter.

The phones are compatible with Bluetooth 2.0-enabled cell phones, iPods with Bluetooth adapters, and select other devices.
Phone-wise, the S9 headphones are built to provide superior call quality, less interference, and faster connections thanks to the Bluetooth 2.0 wireless technology. Class 2 Bluetooth also provides a range of up to 33 feet--enough for a variety of home and portable applications. For optimal outdoor performance, users should position the music device in close proximity to and in the line of sight of the S9's internal antenna, which is located in the base behind the user's head. Placing the music device in a front pocket is not recommended.

Other details include support for up to six hours of music listening or seven hours of talk from a single charge of the 180 mAh lithium-ion battery; a mini USB connector for charging; and a stylish black housing with red highlights. The phones measure 4.9 by 1.8 by 5.1 inches (W x H x D), weigh 1.14 ounces, and are backed by a one-year warranty.

5 out of 5 stars B rillian T   July 27, 2008
Comment Caveat: [Right off the bat! I bought mine at T-Mobile when I was there setting up new phone service. And I paid about thirty-five smackers. Seeing Amazon sell them for about seventy clams casts a whole different light on the various issues people have described in other reviews. The "value" equasion for me is quite a bit different, since I feel like they were a bargain. But the advertised and list prices are totally disproportional to the coolness factor of this product.]

These headphones are "da bomb." (Not an expression I use lightly!) Never in my life had I danced around my room listening to my most bombastic beats without one of two things happening:

1. The neighbors calling the police.

2. Becoming wrapped tightly in a spiders-web of headphone wires, promptly causing me to stop dancing and go back to taking life too seriously.

Without wires, I can twist and roam and run arround freely, all over the same floor as my BT MP3 player. Even if I get sick of a song, the headphones have built in forward-track/back-track buttons, saving me having to return to the player. Just tap on my temples and I'm on to the next bump. I can also control volume, and pause.

The sound quality is a 3.9, where 5 is auditory orgasm and 1 is soup cans avec string. The volume can't get too-too crankin', but is more than loud enough to drown out the sound of neighbors hitting ceiling below with broomstick, police sirens, or the scornful laughter of tight-bums who can't appreciate a white man dancing in his underwear.

I've used my headset for hours and hours now and still have not recharged it. I guess that means, "The batteries last a long time." I look forward to streaming the next Hare-Krishna worship session from Brookly (6 hours long) and dancing through the whole darn thing...

Realizing I need to provide some serious review, I'll toss you all these bones:

Pros: Very good sound quality, pairs easily; pairs with everything I've thrown at it; runs a long time without recharging; light and comfortable to wear; simple controls built in; work well even at moderate distance from BT source.

Cons: A little "delicate" when traveling and not in use - they can't be wrapped around your iPod a few times like earbuds - you need to really pack them carefully; unable to reach sadistic levels of loudness; made by Motorola, who is likely to shutter the division that makes these at some point in 2008-9; not really cut out for use as telephone headset - it's possible, and OK once in a while, but regular callers will complain; silly flashing light that makes you look cool if you are under 14 years old, but really insecure if you are over 30.

Keep reading the other reviews here to see a lot of the other things I'm leaving out, both good and bad. And know that if you can get these for less than fourty, they are awesome. More that that, and they quickly sucumb to gadget fever and die an ugly death as an overpriced "contraption."

1 out of 5 stars Awesome ... When It Works   July 26, 2008
I really enjoyed these headphones until they stopped working.

The design is stylish and minimalist and the sound quality rivals that of wired headsets. I'm very active, so I want a headset that I can use to listen to tunes while working out or running. I connected these to my cell phone for music and calls.

After about a week of taking these everywhere, the volume turned itself all the way down and the buttons stopped working. This rendered the headphones useless. My joy at having found such a cool product turned into disappointment as I read about the similar experiences of others. Apparently this is a somewhat common occurence with these. I returned my Motorola MOTOROKR S9 bluetooth headphones for a refund.
Motorola needs to take responsibility for this defect and issue a recall. Until then, I can not recommend this product. I suggest shopping around for products from other manufacturers.

1 out of 5 stars High price, cheap product   July 25, 2008
Avoid these headphones at all costs. With less than 2 weeks of wear, my headphone's volume controls now do not work and the headset automatically skips "back" to the previous track - constantly - so no music can be played.

Outside, the reception is poor, and the only place my cellphone can be placed in order to connect with the headset is directly in the middle of my lower back - somewhat less than an ideal place.

My headset will be returned ASAP.

4 out of 5 stars Worked fine while it worked   July 21, 2008

I've been looking for a long time to buy Bluetooth stereo headphones for the workouts in the gym - I got tired of having to deal cords that would get tangled up during the workouts or would become a mess in the gym bag. When this model came out I jumped at the opportunity to buy them since they were the first stereo Bluetooth headset with a form factor that is appropriate for wearing in public. (Most of the other ones are too big and just scream "Look at me, I am a dork!") And since I bought them a little over a year ago, I have been extremely satisfied with them - for the most part. Here are a few pros and cons that I have come up with.

Pros:

1.Comfortable enough for a daily workout. Even with my moderately large head, I did not have much of a comfort issue with wearing them every day for a couple of hours. I would not recommend wearing them for more than three hours in a row though. But that would be the case with most headphones anyways.
2.Easy setup. I had no problem connecting them to either my cell phone/mp3 player or my laptop.
3.Decent range. As long as there is an uninterrupted line of sight between the linking device and the headset, you can use them on the other side of a large room or a smaller gym. Comes in handy when working out and don't want anything attached to any part of your body.
4.Decent music playback sound.
5.Decent battery life. For a relatively small device like this one, it was pleasing to find out that it did not have to be recharged more than a couple of times a week with standard use.
6.As a phone earpiece it is useful to have around the head headset because it improves stability a lot. All of my other earpieces fall out of my ears way too easily.
7.Being transferred from the mp3 player to the phone when receiving an incoming call is really useful and cool.

Cons:

1.It would be really useful if these headphones were collapsible. In that case they could be taken with you in your pocket almost anywhere you go. Plus, it would avoid dangers of having them twisted while stored in your bag.
2.Touch-sensitive controls are too sensitive and very, very small. It took me a while to get used to them.
3.The stereo feature works only for music. When using them for calling, only the left earpiece delivers sound, which is sort of weird. This takes some time to get used to.
4.For some reason, when I linked them to my laptop, they got de-linked with my cell-phone. I had to go through the whole process again to have them back in the desired configuration.

Unfortunately, a week ago one of the touch-sensitive controls broke, and now I can't increase the volume. This is really annoying because other than that they still work great. I tried sending them back to Motorola, but apparently they don't fix products that are bought through Amazon, EVEN WHEN THEY ARE BRAND NEW! This is extremely annoying to say the least. I decided to buy a new pair, and found another one on Amazon for $50. (So if at the moment all the available ones are more expensive than that, you may want to wait a bit.) Since this price is about 2.5 times cheaper than what you could get in any AT&T store, it seems to me a worth-while investment. I figured that paying about $50 a year for something that I get to use every day is worth it.

3 out of 5 stars S9--> Bluetooth VS WiFi   July 21, 2008
This phone is pretty cool. It doesnt work for me, because I bought it so I could use it to listen to music and game sounds while I play online with my PC... Unfortunatelly I have a WiFi network at home and I was amazed to findout that bluetooth interferes with the wifi... It's rather impressive, once I start listening to music on the S9, my internet connection starts dropping like every 20 seconds so on.

Another thing is that you cant use it to "relax". The part of the phone that goes behind the head is too rigid, and you cant lie down while using it... because if you do so, it becomes unconfortable.

Seens like this phone is aimed towards sports. This is a workout phone to be used with the cellphone or some other mp3 player.
