Eh... September 1, 2008 I tried the Z9 based on a recommendation from the field technician at work, whose word I've come to trust. He's been using a Z9 for at least a year, and he's very happy with it.
Me, not so much. I like its size, light weight and relatively intuitive controls, but the sound wasn't especially good on either end, and its voice isolation circuit worked too well, making me sound like a voice synthesizer, according to those with whom I tested it.
Moreover, I found the fit uncomfortable and unstable. If I rested the earbud just inside my ear, it felt liable to fall off with the slightest movement of my head. If I placed the earbud further in so it was more secure, it started to hurt within 15 minutes, and it popped out after a while anyway.
I know the Z9 has its fans, but I'm not one of them.
Initial good impression but poor quality August 29, 2008 I started off loving this product. Then after 4 months of ownership (actual use perhaps 30 times) the earpiece fell apart requiring me to order a $10 replacement part plus shipping.
Any future owners should anticipate a yearly cost of ownership expense of $60 to $120 per year.
My assessment: poor design and implementation.
Great headset hands free option August 25, 2008 Great headset hands free option
With voice controled dialing and easy adaptable ear clip this is a great headset.
The reception and clarity is 4/5 stars
Terrible sound quality. August 23, 2008 I purchased this expecting at least close to the quality of a jawbone. Big mistake and let down. Fit well, worst sound quality I have had to date. My family claims this headset was the noisiest I have ever had no matter what setting it was on. Extremely disappointed with this product.
My sister sent me a Jawbone and the sound quality is remarkable. Takes a little adjusting for fit, but the Jawbone is the way to go.
Acceptable voice dialing, but poor sound quality July 31, 2008 We purchased the Z9 based on a review that we saw for the Jawbone 2, which noted that the Jawbone was not as good. We were looking to replace Motorola HS850's, as the volume to hear and to be heard was not loud enough. The Jawbone and the Z9 were the same price and the Jawbone 2 was significantly more expensive. We found the Z9 to be a disapointment. While the voice dialing was better than the HS850, we felt the Jawbone was better for voice dialing (fewer misunderstood commands), and the sound quality of others talking to the Z9 user was not great. Sounds were muddy and sometimes difficult to understand. When the volume was turned up, there was sound distortion on the ear piece.
