A good bluetooth headset for the budget minded August 21, 2008 Pros: I bought this item a few years back. Most of the time it produces excellent sound. It's light weight and easy to operate. Two controls pressed together or separately in various combinations do it all.
Cons: Sturdiness - I accidentally dropped my Scala 700lx and it split right down the plastic mold's seam. Since then, I've held it together with a bit of clear scotch tape. It continues to give me service until I upgrade.
Flimsy Headset August 12, 2008 The 700 was better than the 500 but less comfortable. However the sound quality was so good my wife also bought one. The biggest problem we had at first was bending the ear piece to be at least moderately comfortable.
My wife's headset fell apart (literally) one day. She still uses it but holds it together with rubber bands. A couple months later, mine also fell apart. Unfortunately, mine hit the ground after breaking in two and stopped working. Neither of us dropped our headsets; they just came apart at the seam.
If it didn't have such good sound and work well for voice dialing, the discomfort and flimsiness would have me lowering it another star or two.
Scala 700LX August 12, 2008 I have my Cardo Scala paired with a Sanyo Katana II cell phone. People say they can hear me fine, but on my end, voices sound a bit hollow. Also, when I hear my cell phone ring, it takes about five rings before the Scala picks up the signal. Those are my issues with it. For the price, I can live with it because I only use it for a few minutes a day during my short commute to work. But if you're someone uses a bluetooth all day, I would look at a different one.
Not the best design August 8, 2008 Design and fit not the greatest. As a result, cannot adjust to get the earpiece positioned well for hearing. In addtion, the front button is very sensitive and if you touch it accidentally while trying to adjust, you have lost your call. It is possible I will get used to it. Probably would not have bought if I had known about these issues. I have not gotten feedback if the reception on the other side is good.
Junk August 6, 2008 To start off DO NOT PURCHASE FROM CARDO ESPECIALLY THIS ITEM. I did and now wish I had never heard of them.
I purchased the item thru Amazon, which of course gave excellent service. Things went down hill from there. It was promptly shipped on July 2nd.
Upon receiving the unit, and charging the battery and then installing it on my LG VX 8350, I put it on and tried it. The sound was terrible, scratchy, broken up etc. I kept on trying the unit with hopes that it was the area, interference etc to no avail
I then contacted Cardo support on the 18th to report the problem. I both emailed and called. A response was received then with instructions on return. I complied with all and finally on the 22nd they sent an RMA for return. I then called to see if they would ship a replacement immediately, even using my credit card for collateral until they received the faulty unit. The person that I talked to said they could not do that, but if I sent a tracking number, they would immediately ship. This I did both email and verbally. The person that I was talking to said that he would see to it that it would be sent out that day, the 23rd.
On July 29th I received an email advising that the unit was preparing to ship. This proves to me that the company does not care about customer satisfaction and will lie or do what ever it takes to appease a customer. I refuse to deal with unrepeatable companies that stoop to these underhanded policies with relations with customers.
Advice Look elsewhere for a product. Do not even consider CARDO.
