Hairagami -- Great Product September 16, 2008 This product is sooo helpful for maintaining my hair on a daily basis. I use it mostly to creat a bun for my very long, curly and thick hair. It takes a lot of practice to be able to do it quickly on your own though. It is nice to have a second person to help put it in. Once you have practice its soo easy, roll and snap and you are gone. I find it works best with wet hair. But that could be my hair type. Great for anyone who needs their hair out of the way with a bit of a fashion flair. I suggest this to any bun wearing individual.
hair August 17, 2008 this product works really good i have used it so much that i have wore some of the fabric off of it
Wow does this hurt June 27, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I don't understand how anyone with two hands could easily use this product. The only time I got the hairagami to work properly was when my husband and best friend worked as a team. Four hands, five failed attempts, and an hour later I had a nice looking hair style.
Military Use March 9, 2008 I was a ballerina and am now in the Marine Corps, so I wear my hair up all the time and I have been using this product for 5 or 6 years. Since I have been using it so long, it usually only takes me about 5 to 10 minutes to do my hair in the morning, but I will warn you it does take practice, I have recommended to others who were wondering how I got the "perfect" bun everyday, but they have gotten frustrated. Additionally, I can never make the other styles work very well, but they are out of regulations anyway so not a big deal for me. I have long hair, past my shoulder blades, but because it is layered and I am a Marine, every hair must be perfect, so I have to put it up wet every morning. It holds great all day, my hair will hold through a typhoon, but using it wet greatly shortens the life span of the metal snap in the middle, they usually break on me anywhere from 2-4 weeks of daily use. However, for the price, convenience, and perfect bun, it is worth it.
I love it... but sometimes I hate it February 24, 2008 I have a definite love/hate relationship with this hairstyling tool. When I'm very careful (and a little lucky) this thing works great. I pull my hair into a ponytail with a rubber band, then unroll and "snap" the Hairagami. I then open it into a "V" shape and clamp my hair in between the two sides. I slide it down to close to the end of my ponytail, then start rolling towards my head. It helps if I lift my hair up so that I can see what I'm doing! If everything works out okay, I then let the Hairagami "snap" again, CAREFULLY, and roll my hair into the bun shape.
But when it goes wrong... OUCH. If this thing snaps shut on your fingers, it HURTS. And sometimes it snaps shut when you don't want it to, like when you're rolling up your hair, or trying to get the loose ends of your hair positioned. And sometimes when you get your hair rolled up to your scalp, the Hairagami isn't in the right position, so you have to unroll and start over. And hope you don't get "snapped".
Once I get my hair up, though, it stays all day without any difficulty. It's more comfortable, to me, than just about any clips or pins I've tried. My hair stays neat and out of the way, and I've gotten lots of compliments on it. (I keep thinking about trying the Princess Leia double buns!) I've never had so much success with an up-do.
Taking it down isn't that hard if you use both hands. I kind of root around until I find the ends of the Hairagami (I usually spread my hair out to cover the Hairagami once I get the bun all rolled) and straighten them out as much as I can. Then I carefully unroll until I get to the end. It does take both hands, though!
I recommend this product if you've got the patience to work with it. I don't have a lot of patience or skill with styling my hair, but I can use the Hairagami!
My hair is pretty thick, wavy, and falls to mid-back.
