1 out of 5 stars Only lasted 18 months   October 11, 2008
I had this model and it only lasted 12-18 months. However my daughter has had one for 3 years and it's still working.

4 out of 5 stars Satisfactory Enough   October 6, 2008
It meets the requirements- almost as inexpensive as an alarm clock, compact enough to lock up when not in use, and decent enough sound as the music cannot be too loud for the intended workspace.

4 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for   October 3, 2008
You get what you pay for. This was an inexpensive item that fills the bill. It does exactly what I wanted it for and does it well. I don't know what the long term performance is going to be, but I believe it will serve me well for what it was intended for a long time. It seems like a solid piece of equipment. I have had Emerson stuff before with no complaints and I do not suspect I will have any with this unit either.

2 out of 5 stars Poor quality   October 2, 2008
It didn't take long for the radio on this to conk out. It takes a lot of fiddling with the volume to get rid of the static. I use it mainly to play CDs for my toddler for sleeping, and that works OK. But I wanted to be able to switch to the radio during the day sometimes, and now wish I'd just gone with a higher-end iPod player.

3 out of 5 stars Broke after one year   September 16, 2008

This is a neat CD player/AM-FM receiver. Slim, lightweight, decent sound. You can stand it up on a shelf and it is not awkward like Discmans. Battery/AC operation made it versatile. The hinge that closed in the CD opened sedately --- nice! Unfortunately, the machine is not ruggedly built. The CD player unit in my machine stopped working without warning after about one year of average use. I am still mystified. The radio still works well, though, although it was for the combination that I bought the unit.
