5 out of 5 stars drama-free, affordable L2 connection   November 3, 2008
File transfers and remote desktop on the local network have improved performance. The LEDs aren't blindingly bright which is good as my unit is in my bedroom. Doesn't run hot, unit is pretty light, easy to pull off it's resting place with a tug on a cable.

5 out of 5 stars 8-Port Gigabit for $40...Awsome!   October 31, 2008
My only quirk, I would have included mounting holes on the top. I mounted it upside down. From more than 5 feet you cannot tell

4 out of 5 stars Easy to use   October 28, 2008
Just plug in and it works. Sparse documentation came with the unit on how to use it. The bonus software "Network Magic" is a nice addition.

1 out of 5 stars Worked for less than 12 hrs   October 25, 2008
The switch worked for less than 12 hours. It worked great right out of the box. Then in the morning it tried to get online and nothing. All that happens now is the power light blinks. I spent 45 minutes talking to someone who made it apparent that they knew very little about the product and was going off a checklist. Very frustrating I will not buy another and hope I never have to talk to their tech support again. I would have given it a zero if I was allowed to.

5 out of 5 stars It Just Works   October 25, 2008
There is not a whole lot I can say about this switch. I plugged all the cables from my network into the switch and everything worked just fine. The front panel LED's display orange for 100 Mbps connections and green for 1 Gbps connections which is nice. The green technology to reduce power consumption is a good idea. We all know how all our gadgets can add to our electricity costs.

All my new computer builds have motherboards with built in gigabyte Ethernet, so this was a fitting edition. I use a Linksys router to connect to the Internet; however, I wasn't willing to pay for an expensive unit to get a built in gigabyte switch. Adding this D-Link switch was an affordable solution, and it has eight ports for future expansion. All I need to do now is replace my network drive with one that has a gigabyte Ethernet interface and I'll be sailing.
