Product Description The iM600 has a full complement of features that comparably priced systems don't currently offer: built-in FM receiver, remote control, sound field expansion and an on-board rechargeable Lithium-ion battery that offers over seven hours of battery life. And with 17 watts of power, the iM600 throws out some serious sound with the crystal-clear quality that Altec fans have come to expect. This impressive package of features and sound is ultra portable, folding to the flat size of a small book. When fully opened, the iM600's slight footprint is the perfect audio solution in the home or office where space is at a premium. SFX Sound Field Expander technology enhances the stereo listening experience by widening the sound field at the touch of a button. Custom-built, dual 2-inch neodymium drivers outperform rival products with smooth lows and razor-sharp highs. Every inch of the iM600 was designed to offer complete flexibility and control. Amazon.com Product Description With 17 total watts of power, the compact and portable Altec Lansing iM600 Sound System gives you full optimized stereo sound from dual two-inch neodymium drivers, so you can enjoy your favorite iPod tunes at home or work. It features a built-in FM receiver, as well as an on-board rechargeable Lithium-ion battery that provides over seven hours of battery life before it needs recharging. The iM600 also boasts an Altec Lansing engineering innovation called the Stereo Field Expander, or SFX, which makes the speakers sound further apart than they actually are, resulting in a heightened stereo effect. For added convenience, the stereo FM radio can double as a clock radio with station presets, LCD display and telescopic antenna for clear reception; simply plug it into an electrical outlet (the AC adapter is included). Superior bass enhancement technology means you can enjoy quality bass without a subwoofer, and the input jack makes it a snap to connect a second device, including CD, DVD and MP3 players. There's even a composite video out for playing your videos and photos for iPod on most TVs, while the built-in iPod dock allows for quick and easy data transfer and recharge. Additionally, this model syncs and charges all dockable iPod models. Lightweight and easy to move, the iM600 conveniently folds up to 11.0 x 6.0 x 1.7 inches (WxHxD), and weighs just over two pounds, so you can truly take it anywhere. It comes with a wireless remote and AC adapter, and is fully compatible with iPod models that have the alarm clock and sleep timer features. What's in the Box inMotion iM600 mobile speaker system, wireless remote, iPod docking adapters, AC adapter, user's guide, and quick connect instructions.

Excellent except for the FM receiver October 10, 2008 The Altec Lansing in Motion iM600 iPod speaker system works very good. It sounds great and the controls are intuitive.
Two things.
1. MAJOR: The FM receiver does not work well. I can't pickup anything without wrapping the antenna in aluminum foil.
2. MINOR: The charge receptacle is behind the folding panels. It should be in the side so I can charge it folded closed or open.
for someone who cares about sound October 9, 2008 I reviewed many different ipod docking sound systems before settling on the im600. Most sound like toys. The im600 impressed me with it's natural sound that excels with jazz and pop music, especially vocals. Combine it with a tivoli subwoofer for the perfect small system. Other things that make the im600 stand out from the pack is the input jack for other sound sources, an output for the subwoofer, the battery back and folding design making it ideal for traveling. So far I've bought four of these and I recommend them to everyone who asks.
pretty happy October 9, 2008 works great, pretty loud. aux input has been useful but you have to buy your own cord, and remote is handy. battery that came with the remote didn't work and i had to buy a new one which was kind of a pain. overall pretty great, but not perfect.
Great Sound and Works with iPhone 3G October 7, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I got this as a gift and originally used it with my video iPod. It has a really great sound. A nice powerful base that doesn't overwhelm the treble. The overall sound is quite rich. It has both a radio and iPod mode. The remote has 4 preset buttons you can use with the built in radio. It has a telescoping antenna, but I haven't found the need to extend it. It would be nice if it had a mute button for when you are using the radio, but it's easy enough to turn off.
When I got my iPhone 3G, I decided to give it a try. While it doesn't charge the iPhone, it does play the songs with no problems and no interference. It always asks if you want to put the iPhone into airplane mode, but there is no need. When a call comes in, it automatically stops playing the current song and resumes when you hang up and press play. I have used it both with and without a bluetooth headset and it works both ways.
At work, I also have a 1G iPhone. If you have one of those, then don't get this radio. It, unfortunately, does have interference problems when it's anywhere near this radio.
Whether you have an iPod or an iPhone 3G, this is definitely a good value.
the best October 7, 2008 an article is easy to transport and luxurious, practice, comfortable, witha sound acceptable, and their 2 radio functions and i love ipod
