Wonderful Makeup Primer October 6, 2008 I am so glad I took the chance and purchased this. I had read that this was a great substitute for a makeup primer. I have very oily skin and this makes my makeup last all day. I used to have to reapply makeup a second time throughout the day. Now I hardly even use my powder!
This works the same as the Lancome primer for less than half the price.
best stuff I've found September 20, 2008 This stuff is great at preventing chafing. I used to get very uncomfortable chafing under the band of my bra, particularly on hot days. Using the powder-gel has pretty much gotten rid of this problem. And I like the way it feels on my skin - not sticky like gel, and somehow not like powder either. It's hard to describe: it's like a breathable invisible layer of smoothness over my skin. The stuff is expensive, but it's better than anything else I've used, and I'm willing to spend the money on it.
Face Primer Miracle!! September 19, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I heard about using this as a face primer before applying mineral, or other, makeup. I got it, and was amazed the first time I used it. My face looked years younger, fresher, and healthy. And that's saying a lot, as I am pushing 40, w/ red rosacea like oily and sensitive skin! I have used it, very little goes a long ways, for over 3 weeks now. I have not had a single reaction or breakout w/ it, as some have experienced. It's cheap enough, so I say, try it! If it doesn't work as a face primer, it can surely be used as what it was intended for, on males and females. So no loss at all. Thanks to all the ladies who posted about this on Makeup Alley and EverydayMinerals!!
Should Be Medicine Cabinet Staple September 12, 2008 Contains Cyclopentasiloxane (silicone-based emollient), dimethicone (skin protectant), dimethicone/vinyl dimethicone crosspolymer (oil absorbant), silica (dessicant), tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E, preservative), trisiloxane (spreading agent). DOES NOT contain fragrance or added color.
Labeled "from the makers of Monistat," i.e. McNeill-PPC, a pharmaceutical company, Soothing Care Gel is marketed toward women, but can be used by men. It does not contain antibacterial, antifungal or anti-itch ingredients. It does soothe irritated skin. It works BEST as a preventive as far as chafing is concerned. Apply a small amount to friction-prone areas of your skin after bathing. When I'm applying it, it feels a bit like Teflon. Leaves skin smooth, but not slick, and helps skin stay dry but not dried out. If it's hot and humid, you may need to reapply. The label does not address using the product on children's skin, so I cannot recommend it for the little ones. I do keep it handy as a personal care and comfort item.
If the "makers of Monistat" don't re-label this product as first aid, they must be crazy. Marketing it to women keeps it a well-guarded secret from the other people who can use it - men!
Works like a charm, but too pricey (except @ Amazon!) September 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I work 10 - 12 hour shifts at a hospital pharmacy. There are days when we walk 10 miles or more on a shift (we've checked using pedometers!). For a heavy person, that means sweat + friction = OUCH!!! Baby powder and A&D ointment were not doing the trick...I am so thankful I found this stuff!! It is wonderful. On a long, busy day it does require a few reapplications but it works. My only gripe is the price. Yes it is cheap on Amazon, but don't let yourself run out because: 1) it is kind of hard to find in the drugstores and 2) super expensive. My local grocery charges $12.99 for a single tube. I'm stocking up, in case Amazon changes their cost... though I'd buy it anyway to keep myself painfree at work. LOVE IT!
