Great shaver for occasional use September 6, 2008 I am a devoted blade user (despite what the ads say, there are NO electrics that shave as close as a blade), but there are times that I just don't feel like going through the whole ritual of wet shaving. I've had all of the major electric brands at one time or another, including a Norelco rotary and an expensive Braun. I can say, without exaggeration, that this little eleven-buck throwaway shaver is the best electric I've ever owned or used.
When I ordered this, my main worry was that a battery-based shaver would be underpowered. Surprisingly, the lower power seems to be a plus. This shaver doesn't seem as aggressive and brutal as the plug-in and rechargeable models I've used. It doesn't irritate my skin but still has plenty of power to cut my very stiff hair.
Minor drawbacks: No trimmer; the clear plastic head protector doesn't stay on (but you can solve that with a rubber band); the cleaning brush is tiny and is hard to remove from the plastic protector (so I use a leftover brush from a previous shaver). Considering the price and performance, these are trivial issues.
Excellent, Cheap Shaver! July 1, 2008 This has been my primary shaver since July of last year. Bought it when I forgot my Norelco rotary on a trip. Have not looked back since. This shaver outperformed my Norelco in every aspect. Just shows that price ($10 vs. $90) does not equal quality.
Why four stars? A couple items: - Battery operated. Can get expensive over time to keep buying batteries, though the batteries do tend to last a while (2+ weeks) before speed of blade gets noticeably slower. - Can't replace the blades or foil. Small complaint, as the shaver is cheap enough to just buy a new one. - Does take a few passes to get a majority of the hairs (esp. after batteries are worn a little). - As with all electrics, tends to miss hair, especially in hard areas (under chin, around lip, next to ears, etc.)
Overall, a great value to at least try BEFORE you spend $70+ on a rechargeable shaver.
Great Item! February 24, 2008 I bought this for my son. He is serving our country in Iraq and water isn't always available for shaving so he found this travel razor that he can use. Because of it's inexpensive price he is not concerned if he loses it, it does a great job and it doesn't take up alot of room.
Almost February 13, 2008 Great shave! Only disappointment, no trimmer. Must carry a blade razor or scissor for long hairs.
nice cheap razor February 8, 2008 this is a nice cheap razor. i've never had an expensive razor, just cheap ones. most cheap razors in the past-i've thrown away after a few uses-bad shaves plus razor burn. this razor shaves relatively close with only mild razor burn. i use it often
