Great sound and great comfort given the low price tag for in-ear phones! July 17, 2008 Sound Quality: It would be unfair to compare these earphones to the likes of in the ear headphones like Shure E2c Sound Isolating Earphones or Philips SHE9850 In-Ear Headphones with Advanced Acoustics. They reproduce the highs and lows much more clearly than these these Coby earphones but are about 12-15 times pricier than these ear phones.
However, the Coby earphones compare very favorably to the in earphones in the sub $25 range like Philips SHE9500 Ultra Sound In Ear Headphones or JBuds Hi-Fi Noise-Reducing Ear Buds (White). The sound of these Coby earphones is decent, good bass and good noise reduction. The noise reduction is not as great as some of the sub $100 earphones I have used but is good enough for listening on a plane ride. This is probably the best noise reduction you can get in the sub $20 range!
Comfort: These are one of the more comfortable in ear phones I've owned. The flex rubber sleeves are thinner than usual and fit comfortably in the ear. I can wear them for hours without feeling any discomfort. They also don't fall out which is a big plus. The only in ear headphone that was more comfortable than these is the Philips SE9850 that came with memory foam sleeves that molds to fit your ears.
Make: The make of these earphones is ok. The cord is quite thin and does have a tendency to tangle a bit. When you get them you have to tear apart the cord as per your preference, there is a little plastic sleeve midway to ensure you don't end up tearing them all the way down. They did seem a bit flimsy to me but in 2 months of use these earphones have held up quite well. And seriously, even if they do get damaged after a few months it will take only $5 to replace them.
Overall: If you're like me and like to have more than one earphone lying around, this is a great product. After I lost my $100 Shures when they fell out of my pocket, I prefer to take these with me for more active trips. They sound good, don't fall out of my ears and hold up well to moderately rough use...and if I lose them, no big deal...just drink some Pepsi and get a new pair!
very nice unbeatable for 5 bucks, not 100% noise isolating good sound qlty! July 15, 2008 this is a gr8 product for 5 bucks. its not completely noise isolating but do very good. very good sound qlty.
Cobys VS Jbuds July 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have had the Cobys for about a month now since I have purchased them to listen to music while traveling on my vacation. I like to listen to music and just pass out for as much of the duration of the flight as possible. Incidentally, I happened to be sitting next to a woman who liked to do the same and in my curiosity I asked her what she liked to listen to. Instead of just telling me she prompted that we just switch ipods. I agreed. The funny thing was that we traded ipods and headphones as well instead of just unplugging our jacks and replugging them into the different ipods. Instantly, I noticed a difference in sound quality. I thought to myself maybe its just the type of music that we were listening to because I like rap and she was more into alternative rock and classical music. So I asked her to just switch earphones this time to experiment and it turned out that indeed, it was her earphones that made the music sound better. She had had the Jbuds earphones which are produced from the company JLab Audio. I looked them up online when I got home and purchased them right away.
Why is it so cheap??? July 14, 2008 This is one of the BEST in-ear isolation earphones one can have. Even as I submit this review, I am buying another pair. Without being too emotional about it, this pair has a better bass and sound quality that EP-630. Since I have the Zen stone, I was concerned if I'd find the right ear plugs that gave me the sound quality I was looking for. This offers a rich, luxurious, and deep audio quality that would please most users. I don't know why this is priced so less compared to other sony or phillips crap out there in the market. I am an advanced user and can easily get the best sound quality with my volume level set at 13 in the ZEN STONE (Max is 25). All in all, it is a very good ear phone and people might want to buy as many pairs as they can before AMAZON cranks up its price.
From China with LEAD July 11, 2008 From the back of the package: "Handling the cords on this product will expose you to lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer, and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling." I'm glad I saw the warning before opening the package.
[...] I would hope that you do the same.
