Good cam, watch for.... July 25, 2008 Pros: Good camera for a great price. Having the movable parts inside is great. Easy to keep clean. Lightweight even if a bit bulky. I like something a bit bigger to hold on to anyway. Good quality video and sound. This is my first camera with those features and so I am easily impressed. Fast autofocus. Much shorter lag than my Olympus c4000 on the rapid shooting setting. The "P" setting gives several good options with just a touch or two. More fun that the "Auto". SP setting for "text" is a nice feature. Flash, macro, and auto timer settings are very handy. Threaded lens makes accessories a possibility.
Cons: Not great in low light, picture quality suffers. Need very bright light for zoom pix, both for pic quality and to keep shutter speeds high. Recommend using ISO 100 setting, not AUTO. Pic qualtiy degrades with higher ISO. Flash is only adequate within 10 feet, less if zoom is used. Manual focus is almost useless. No distance to subject is displayed and no on screen fine focus feature is available. Several attempts at MF supermacro shots yielded poor results. Not much room for creativity with focus. Autofocus works as well as average. Lens flare is worse than I expected. I had to go out and get a lens hood. Probably worth the 10 bucks. Sometimes it's a bit hard to keep straight which options are available (or not) for the different settings. But I guess I'll get it all figured out with time. I've had the camera for a few weeks now and taken a couple of thousand pix. What a change from the days of film!!!
Fuji camera July 25, 2008 This product is fantastic. With an appropriate large capacity card, it takes very long motion pictures. The clarity of the images are just great. They appear to be of far better quality than other cameras. The quality of the item and the price cannot be matched.
Fuji Finepix S700 July 24, 2008 Great price for this camera. It's easy to use. It takes great pictures. The batteries last forever.
love this camera! July 22, 2008 I am not camera savvy and in the past, I typically cut off heads and feet in my pictures. Not with this camera. I have had no trouble using it and the pictures make me out to be a professional. It really is a user friendly camera and it looks like a professional camera too, which I like.
Very Nice Bang per Buck July 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Excellent little camera with big ideas. Nice touches like the battery discharger, which will aid in the hysteresis problems of modern rechargeables. Movie resolution is pretty low but hey this is a still camera. I'm using it with some Kingston 2 Gb SD cards (8 dollars each) I have and they are plenty fast enough to cope with anything the camera can throw at them. I've had some issues importing AVI files into an Apple macbook but this seems to be a problem with the MACs importation software rather than the camera. Same files import fine into XP or Ubuntu. The GUI is a little clumsy in places but then it is a camera not a PC, Flash works extremely well with good red eye correction and excellent fill in quality.
