3 out of 5 stars Great sound quality but be careful...   August 13, 2008

I live in NYC which means I walk on the noisy street and take public transportation all the time - two great times to listen to your ipod, right? The thing with these buds is that they are designed to inject sound into your ear like noise canceling ear buds but without the noise cancellation (the tips reach inside your ear canal but don't block out background noise, supposedly for the sake of comfort). This is a design flaw that I think can be a bit dangerous if you are trying to listen to music in loud surroundings because you are likely to have to turn up the volume a lot in order to hear. The noise blocking types of buds can be used at much lower levels since you're not fighting background noise and it's much safer. It seems to me that the particular design of the Bose buds make them much more powerful than most stock earbuds I've used because these have actually caused me to have pain in my ears whereas I used normal ipod headphones in the same situation and never had this problem. Bottom line is that I would only recommend using these if you're inside or in a car, plane or some other place where you're not fighting background noise to hear your music. If you are in noisy environments, try some type of noise cancelling model.

2 out of 5 stars sound nice, if quiet, and you will lose the tips   August 11, 2008
I like the sound of these quite a bit...if ambient noise is not too great. I found that they actually helped INCREASE outdoor wind noise into my ears.I was not expecting noise blocking/cancelling, but this increase was unexpected.

Also, the tips still tend to fall off. I have been careful, and yet keep losing them. After calling Bose 2x for replacements, I'm throwing in the towel.

But, when conditions are right, they do sound quite nice...

5 out of 5 stars A Home Theater in Your Ears   August 4, 2008

A lot has been written about these headphones, so I'll clarify the important issues and add my own two cents.

Do they stay in your ears?

I've been light jogging with them (using the clothing clip) and they haven't come out at all. My headphones are black and white and come with a carrying case, a clothing clip, and something to allow the headphones to hang from your neck. I'd recommend not buying these headphones through Amazon because they are the in your ear type. These headphones are sold all over, and if you don't like them, you can return them easier in person than you can online.

With this said, the sound quality is simply outstanding. It has good high, mids, and low sounds -- they really sound like a stereo. Although they aren't noise canceling, the improved sound quality, particularly for audio with a prominent base, is well worth the sacrifice. For instance, bottom of the line noise canceling headphones cost around 50-60 dollars, usually have the sound quality of 25 dollar headpohones, and the noise canceling features usually break 1-3 years after purchase (and after people have written their Amazon review). It's a much better buy to go for the better quality because it really is that rich. I'd only recommend going for noise canceling if you predominately listen to your music on airplanes, and perhaps trains if you really can't stand slight background noise.

1 out of 5 stars WATCH OUT for the FAKE Ones   July 30, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

i recently purchased on from one of the private seller for a price of $40. and i thought ihad a good deal since the ones from online store are all $90. But GUESS what, they are FAKE. i couldn't believe that somebody was selling fake Bose headphones on Amazon. although i believe that there are numerous reasons that people sell their stuff for a much lower price but why FAKE. and for those of you do not believe me, just google it yourself about the fake bose headphones and there are even youtube videos make about it. So, all i wanted to say here is that buy these headphones from someone/somewhere safe, because the fake one do not even worth 10 bucks.

4 out of 5 stars Really Good Earphones   July 30, 2008

After reading all the mixed reviews, I was reluctant to purchase these. However, after using them now for a week, I am very happy with these earphones. They have good deep bass as well as good treble. The medium earpiece fits fine and does not fall out when I run on the treadmill. Keep in mind that these are not sound cancelling earphones and they are not inserted in the ear canal; thus, you need to turn up the volume a bit to tune out outside noise. Overall, I give these 4 out of 5 stars.
