Best iPhone Case EVER! October 2, 2008 I've had 3 different cases by three different manufactures since I bought my iPhone almost a year ago. This Otterbox case is, BY FAR, the best one I've purchased! Other reviews have criticized the "oil slick" created by the protective screen cover, but it doesn't bother me. I would recommend this case to anybody.
Solid protection September 6, 2008 The otterbox defender is a rock solid protector for your valuable iPhone. It is easy to instal and come with a snap in, adjustable holster. Great value for the price!
How to get rid of the oil look August 22, 2008 I found that if you put on a screen protector then rub your palm on it before placing the phone in the case, you minimize if not eliminate the oil look all together. This case is by far the best case out there for the iphone
phone booth August 18, 2008 Good product. The screen scratches way too easily on the inside, though. Be careful that you don't scratch it when you open the package. My only other gripe is inability to access the mute button for the ringer. This means that you have to power off the phone in concerts etc. I've noticed that these items have been addressed in the 3G model, hopefully will be fixed for the first generation iPhone.
A REAL SOLUTION TO THE SCREEN OIL SLICK ISSUE June 27, 2008 I followed the advice of Otterbox to use hand or facial oil to "lubricate" the screen. It did not work, and I wonder why they did not use the solution I found. I used a Fellowes WriteRight universal screen protector (I had some left over from a previous phone). Once installed, there is absolutely no oil slick and the screen looks perfect! The thickness of the screen protector is minimal, and does not affect the closure of the case. The touch screen works perfectly, too, even with a double-layer of protection on top. It is as if you are using the iPhone nude (that sounded strange...but you know what I mean).
Here is the link to the product I used to completely fix the oil slick problem: Fellowes WriteRight Universal Screen Protector, 10 Pack
