Geat value all-in-one September 6, 2008 Most of the equipment I buy is HP. I have had a few Canon & Epson printers in the past, with reasonable satisfaction, but generally default to HP. I read several reviews on the MX700 and competitive products, and decided to go with the MX700. I am very pleased with the print quality, setup, and am particularly impressed with the software that came with the printer. My only nitpick is a slow first page, but that really isn't an important issue. Bottom line - I'd pick the MX700 all over again after using it for about a month.
Good on ink August 27, 2008 Good network solution if your wanting to upgrade at a reasonable price point. No wifi connection is a minus and setup on some xp machines is tricky I had to manually add the printer on one machine since the setup cd couldn't seem to install the printer even though it found it on the network, but overall a good product.
Do not buy this printer, trust me!!! August 23, 2008 This is my first ever product review in Amazon. I have been almost 99% of the time pleased with my products and should have written good reviews before. But this product is a real pain in the neck. Only the printer is working, and only with one computer, the networking stuff with my laptop, useless, doesn't work. It seems that this product is not really compatible with MAC..... The scanner does not work either, apparently there is a problem with the MAC drivers for this printer. Customer service, forget about it. Canon shame on you. 7 e-mails to tell me at the very end to call a 1-800 number...... Only during 9 to 5pm.... excuse me, I work for a living and I'm not at home at all during those hours.....Monday through Friday......... Bottom line: Do you own MAC??? DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!
Died after 20 days August 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'd never used a Canon printer but based on the reviews I saw by the "experts", I bought this for my home office after my other all-in-one died after several years. At first, it worked OK, print quality was mediocre and it has a tendency to pull paper through crooked if you have too little or too much paper in the supply but it was OK for my needs. I was prepping for a meeting and doing some heavy printing when the black cartridge ran out. I replaced it with an "official" Canon cartridge (just so they can't say it was the fault of an inferior cartridge). I immediately got the dreaded "Error 5100". I found online that sometimes if you turn the machine off for a bit and then reconnect power, it will "correct itself". Unplug - wait - reconnect. New error - Black cartridge not installed correctly. I took the black cartridge back out and reinstalled it. Then I received an error that the other three cartridges weren't installed correctly even though I hadn't touched them when I installed the black one. I'm not an IT professional, but I've installed hundreds of cartridges without incident. Nonetheless, I removed and reinstalled them. Error 5100. Same thing - unplug - wait - reconnect. Cartridge error again - remove, reinstall. New error - The print carriage isn't installed correctly (had been working fine for the past 20 days). Remove the whole thing, reinstall. Error 5100. After about three hours of going round and round, the Error 5100 stayed up and wouldn't go away so the next day I promptly took it back to the store and got something else. All of this took place exactly 20 days from my initial purchase, just long enough for me to pay a restock fee. Needless to say, I didn't exchange it for another MX700 and can't say that I'll be tempted to try a Canon again or believe the "experts" when the masses are less enthusiastic about a piece of equipment.
Awesome product August 1, 2008 Canon Pixma MX700 Office All-On-One Inkjet Printer (2186B002) Our (very small) office has just started to "scan-to-disc" some of our old office and client files. The Canon MX700 has been an ideal tool for the scanning of these old files. The extra pluses are the color printer (not actually needed but a great deal of fun!) and possible fax capabilities if our dedicated fax machine should fail for any reason. Software is super friendly Our office is very pleased.
