Great quality bag September 30, 2008 This bag is very well made. Materials are first quality and you get what is described by the manufacturer.
I like that it won't be identified as a camera bag right away.
Though I wouldn't say a soft bag this size is designed to be primarily carried using the handle on it, that is one thing that could be improved, because when its held with it the closure of the bag is not as good as when it's held with the shoulder belt. Perhaps adding a short piece of fabric like the ones many backpacks have for ensuring closure of the main compartment would make it even better.
I would buy it again and recommend it as a good investment.
My favorite of 6 different camera bags/backpacks July 24, 2008 Lowepro Topload Zoom 1 Camera Bag (Black) Lowepro Topload Zoom 2 Camera bag (Black) Lowepro Nova 3 AW Camera Bag (Black) Lowepro CompuTrekker AW Camera Backpack (Black) Crumpler THE WHICKEY AND COX Camera Backpack (Gun Metal/Grey) Crumpler 7 Million Dollar Home Photo Bag (Dark Red / Red / Dark Blue)
I have some decent photo gear, and I wanted a good bag to hold most, if not all of my equipment when on the go.
* I started off with the TMZ1 when I just had a D70 w/ kit lens. * Stepped up to the TMZ2 when I got my 40D w/ kit lens. * Went with the Nova 3 AW when I added a 24-105 L lens & 580EX flash to my 40D * My collection grew some more and I found myself with no place to put my gear, so I opted to go with a larger backpack that could accommodate a laptop ** Whickey & Cox was a very nice backpack, excellent padding but the shape limited the amount of gear (body, 2 lens & flash and some accessories) ** Computrekker AW was able to fit my whole collection & my laptop, but, the overall package looked HUGE, not very inconspicuous...
So, I bought a 7 Million Dollar Home bag and I can't be happier (almost). In this bag, I store a Canon 40D & grip w/ 24-105 f/4 L attached, 70-200 f/2.8 L IS, 17-40 f/4 L, 50 f/1.4, 580 EX II flash & various accessories & hoods.
The strap is comfortable, the interior is smooth with strong velcro, making for easy, endless configurations. Best of all, the bag isn't very "camera bag like", looks almost like a diaper bag for my baby. The bag weighs around 10 pounds fully loaded, but, its very easy on the shoulders.
The padding on this bag isn't as grand as either of my other backpacks, but, decent. I expected a little more for such an expensive bag. The only other complaint I have, is that there is only 1 velcro on the front, so when you carry the bag by the top handle, the bag shows some distress.
i love it May 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have not found a single thing about this bag that i dont like. Great construction and organized compartments.
Crumpler 7 million dollar bag January 7, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My husband was very surprised when he opened up this present to find such a well made bag. He's managed to fill it with 2 flashes, a couple lenses, his camera body, and a gorilla pod. I think there's a few more things in it too!
It's a great looking bag, that doesn't advertise what's in it! The amount of space in the bag amazes me. I didn't believe the reviews on Crumpler's website, but now I do.
Great Bag: Well Designed, Stylish, Functional August 14, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a great bag that is really soft and easy to carry; it slightly conforms to my body making it very comfortable. This is the best looking bag on the market, hands down. This bag doesn't have the shape or look of a camera bag and appears more like a daypack/messenger bag therefore I'm never concerned that my bag is saying to the public "Expensive Camera Gear - Right Here" (anyways all my stuff is insured - including this bag itself). It is classy enough for weddings with no compression straps or clips hanging all around it and strong enough to handle outdoor environments. If this one needed replacing, I would buy it again over another bag.
I'm able to fit into it: DSLR with grip, 70-200mm f2.8 IS, 50mm f1.4, 28-135mm IS, 20-35mm USM, 580ex - with all of the lens hoods, but it gets bulky at this point. There are two moderately sized accessory compartments and two easy access side pockets for non-bulky items. When full, my bag weighs 14.5 lbs.
No real problems but there are some design issues that could use improving upon. The accessory compartments are not divided so small things will move around and mix together. I've begun to use Ziplock bags and empty Altoid tins to separate things like my cable release, wireless remote, CF cards, and AA batteries. The stock shoulder pad is useless (the nylon shoulder strap itself is great) because it doesn't have enough padding to make it comfortable and there isn't enough grip to keep the bag on your shoulder. It's slipped off my shoulder a couple of times so I replaced it with a heavy duty luggage/camping style pad with more cushion and lots more rubber to stay on my shoulder.
