does the job July 25, 2008 I have been using this USB flash disk for more than half a year. No issues. It is somewhat slow. But for the price I bought it back then (and today it is half of it), it is a good storage device. I would recommend it to people who would require 4gb storage for a cheap price.
Note that the speed of transfer increases not only with the size of file but also with the number of the files and folders. 1000 files with a total of 2gb size will transfer slower than 2 files with the same size together (As an estimate, I would say 1000 files would transfer to the USB in about 15 minutes, whereas it is less than 10 minutes with 2 files). However, the transfer from the USB disk to the computer is faster (more than 2 times than the other direction). It might depend on your computer hard drive though (Mine is 7200rpm HDD with 8 mb cache).
Another thing: Tha cap might loosen after more usage. Try not to play with it unnecessarily (I do and am beginning a less tight capping). For that reason alone, you might consider the retractable ones without additional cap. But they are slighly higher in price.
Last thing: Always stop the device before its removal and NEVER PULL IT OFf IF THE GREEN LIGHT IS BLINKING OR A FILE IN THE USB DISK IS OPEN!
A decent Flash Drive July 24, 2008 This is a reasonably good drive. Works as it is supposed to and inexpensive. I use it to back up important documents off site and keep it in my back pack. The case looks and feels a bit cheap and the end cap does not fit very tightly suggesting that eventually it will fall off. I prefer a solid "click" when placing the cap like is the case on my Lexar flash drive. However, the Lexar is designed to hang from the cap while the Kingston hangs from the body of the drive. Anyway, I think I got my money's worth with the Kinston drive.
Flashdrive is the greatest July 23, 2008 I am hooked on flashdrives. This one has been great so far. I have 4 of them. Perfect for storing music and photos that were taking so much room on my harddrive. We had a LOT of music and photos. Also great as a backup for my pictures. I put an extra copy on one flashdrive and I store it at work - in case of fire or if one gets damaged. SO MUCH easier than copying it all to CDs.
Would have scored five stars, but... July 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great device. Does everything it's supposed to, doesn't have any accompanying software. As far as I can tell there's only one downside. Normally I use the device as a means to transport files between work and home. 90% of the time I transfer the files off the memory key before altering them. Every time I've actually worked on or altered the file directly from the memory key, that file seems to disappear from the complete list of files. Not sure if anyone else has encountered this. Again, other than that, it's a dream.
little price for a big size! July 20, 2008 Bought this to use as a back up for my hard drive since the price was good for what I needed. Seems to work fine-just plug it in and you're ready. I wouldn't want to use it for everyday stuff since the cap could easily be lost- I have a different style for that purpose.
