You can make your own NASCAR legend by creating your own car in the paint shop and working your way up through the ranks, adding sponsors and better equipment as you win on the track. NASCAR Thunder 2002 also features an Easy Play mode with driving assists for new players, all 23 NASCAR tracks--including the Chicagoland Speedway and Kansas Speedway--the new Dodge cars, and updated teams, drivers, and paint schemes for the 2001 season. With an ultra-fast new rendering engine from the team behind Madden NFL 2001, the game allows for a huge number of cars on the track running at a persistent 60 frames per second under all conditions, including multiplayer. All 23 tracks are represented, including the newest NASCAR speedways, every NASCAR star, rookie, and veteran, and all four car manufacturers, including Dodge. Go head-to-head with Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Dale Jarrett, Bobby Labonte, Rusty Wallace, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Burton, Bill Elliot, Michael Waltrip, and Steve Park at Daytona, Rockingham, Vegas, or any other track on the circuit. You can now race for the championship over multiple seasons. Choose a manufacturer, paint your car, and then earn offers and decals from new sponsors based on your performance. Use your race winnings to equip your crew and vehicle, increasing horsepower, handling, and pit crew performance. You can even earn the right to race for an existing NASCAR team. As you race through multiple seasons, new drivers will come on to the scene while others retire. New levels of realism let cars dent and crumple as they collide, and auto body parts fly off or drag on the track to leave a trail of sparks. Other damage effects include tire donuts on body panels, tire smoke, and oil fires.

I bought this game looking for a fun to play nascar game. That is exactly what it is. For those of you who have played Papyrus's nascar racing 2002 season it is nothing like it. It has more of an arcade feel than anything. Dont let the shiny graphics fool you, it is not realistic. You cannot spin out no matter how hard you try. The AI is stupid, and the carreer mode bites. It is very fun to play, but not the sim i was looking for. I think Thunder 2003 will be a lot better.

Nascar Thunder 2002 for the playstation 2 game console is one of the best nascar games that i have ever played. It has great graphics and realism. Great for multi-player! love to play four player with my friends!

OK,thanks to EA Sports for a good game on a platform!(finally)everything is great,opening intro,racing...u may want to turn of autobrake,stability and multi-player comp(this first)for realism.they allow you to get caught up from behind,vice-versa..etc.u get the point. the only thing i didnt like was that u have to be numbers 100-199 for create-a-car. it makes ME feel like im not really a real NASCAR racer,needs to be fixed in my opinion. otherwise great game and great buy!!
