One benefit but big downside May 12, 2008 Why do I have this controller that will not work on Nintendo Gamecube games that I want to play on my Wii? The only benefit this offers is that it plugs into your Wii-mote and then becomes semi-wireless (still killing your batteries). Do yourself a favor and spend the same $20 on a wireless Gamecube controller. You can still play the virtual console games, plus the Gamecube discs, and not have a remote connected 3 feet away.
Is this for human hands? May 11, 2008 I specifically purchased two of these to play Smash Bros. I was informed that the normal Wii controllers were not very good to use and that I should use either the Game Cube controller or the Wii Classic. I made the wrong choice.
The biggest gripe is how uncomfortable this thing is to hold in your hands. It almost feels alien. Is it that we have had some sort of ergonomic sensibility in controllers going back to the Sega Genesis or am I just a wimp? Playing the game with this controller felt utterly and totally unnatural. Also, I am not fond of the wire coming out towards me...another thing that seemed out of place. To play with this controller, using the two thumb sticks is not natural.
Go with the Game Cube controller. I have never been displeased with any of my Wii stuff but there is a first for everything.
Limited, but extensive use May 11, 2008 I actually bought this for use with one game, and I use it a lot. I have loved Mario Cart since it's inception for Super Nintendo. When I got a Wii for a gift, I have played a variety of games adn I'm not a gamer. The interaction is great, but with Mario Carts it''s just plan fun. I now have the Nintendo 64 version which I use this controller and of course Wii Mario Cart. I'll let you know when it become disfunctional, which might be soon considering how much use it gets!
Have Not Used the Controller Yet May 6, 2008 Have no clue it is a gift for my son and his birthday is Friday
Very Nice April 26, 2008 I bought a couple of these on Amazon to play virtual console games. They work extremely well for every game I've tested (especially for SNES games). My only real complaints are that the joysticks are a little loose and the cord should really come out the top of the controller (I think this was another one of Nintendo's attempts to be unique like the smaller gamecube discs, but just like those it ends up being somewhat annoying since you end up with a cord running between your arms). I really like the layout of the controller, the buttons are solid, and I haven't had any problems getting it to work. Overall I am very satisfied and would definitely buy them again.
