I hate spiders! May 17, 2008 This game is really fun and challenging. You can skip cutscenes now (that's a big improvement. Now I don't have to watch any more 10 minute cutscenes!), and it's always fun to play Quidditch (The best part is kicking the other seeker). I am stuck at Aragog because whenever he runs up to Harry, all you can see in the screen is Aragog and for some reason it freaks me out and I have to put the game on pause. Also, this game always freezes on my computer which is really annoying, because I will be at a really important part and the game will randomly freeze.
Better than Sorcerers Stone July 2, 2007 I got this game after I played the Gamecube version and this one is alot better.
Pros-
.quidich better than the first game .creative spells .the bean bonus room(if you have the most house points you get to in a room to collect bertie botts beans which you can use as curency) .you can redo challenges .there is more challenges in the Chamber of Secrets. In the NGC one when you enter the chamber you fight the heir without going through some challenges
Cons-
.the Nimbus 2001 cant do anything .there is a time limit in spell challenges and there realy is no point because I can get them done in a quick amount of time .a little too easy .No transfigeration class .graphics could be a little better but it sure a whole lot better than the 1st game
Good except for a couple things. June 30, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Okay, first, we have to get one thing straight. If you have the two-disc Chamber of Secrets dvd and have ever watched the game preview, YOU ARE NOT SEEING SCENES FOR THIS GAME. I have this game and can prove that during that game preview, you are seeing scenes from the PS2 or Gamecube. This game is fun but I usually play it at my friend's house. (My friend loves this game more than I do and is far ahead of me, she's fighting Aragog while I'm still making the dumb Poly-Juice Potion.) Here's how I rate the game: Sound: 5/10- The music stops sometimes and gets repetitive. Graphics: 9/10- The characters look the same as in the first game. A MAJOR dissappointment. Gameplay: 6/10- Finding the Polyjuice potion ingridients in the dungeon is a little bit of a joke. You just jump around the place until you find the thing you need. Fun-10/10 Overall- 9/10 Hope this review helped!
This is Truly a Great Game! April 16, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After being greatly disappointed with the "Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone" game, I wasn't quite sure what to expect with "The Chamber of Secrets". However, to my surprise, this second game in the series was truly awesome! Nearly all of the issues/problems I had with the first game had been rectified, plus there were lots of wonderful additions to how this game is played.
In "The Chamber of Secrets", you once again play the character of Harry Potter. There are 3 main goals to this game - first, find the chamber of secrets; second, defeat the basilisk; third, collect (or buy) enough silver wizard cards to open the door to the gold card challenge; and fourth, win the house cup (which is based on how many points you earn during quiddich matches & various spell challenges).
There are lots of places to explore in this game & many, many hidden/secret rooms & passageways. As you learn new spells, you'll want to go through the grounds & Hogwarts Castle looking for anything out of place - it's these areas that you'll want to try your spells on (these things can include bricks that are a bit off, mirrors, statues, pictures, cracks in the wall, etc...).
Be sure to collect as many Bertie Botts Beans as you can - this is currency at Hogwarts. You can use your beans to purchase bronze & silver wizard cards, quiddich gear, and the various items used to heal wounds. A great way to earn lots of "beans" is to duel people over & over again. In order to duel, you have to wager a certain number of beans, depending on who you'll be competing against. If you win, you get your beans back, plus that same amount from your competitor.
There are so many things that I like about this game. The graphics are excellent (especially the moving staircase); the voice-overs are first-rate; it's set up so that you can go back and re-play quiddich matches as well as re-do all the challenges - if you do better, you get more house points; and there are lots of great places to explore.
The only thing I didn't like about this game is that you have to exit out completely in order to go check a walkthrough (or do anything else on your computer) and, when you do exit out, it takes a while to get back in.
In case you'd like to consult a walkthrough (which I suggest, even if you just read the tips), there are several good ones at "gamefaqs".
One tip that I learned the hard way is this: when someone tells you that the house points ceremony is about to begin, check to make sure that you have more points than anyone else. If you don't, go play (or replay) some quiddich matches to increase your score &/or go re-do one or more of the challenges - if you do better at this, you'll be awarded more points.
The reason the house points ceremony is so important is that if Gryffindor wins, you get to go into the "bean room" for a specified period of time & collect as many beans as you can. And, since the beans are used as currency, you want to collect as many possible.
Another tip is to approach the bean traders more than once, as their price will change every time. Try to get a really low price, and then buy as many of that item as you want. This will save you a lot of beans in the long run!
Overall, I would highly recommend "The Chamber of Secrets" - as it truly is an awesome game! It kept me rivetted to my seat, not wanting to turn it off - the sign of a great game! Also, this is one of those games that spans generations - it can be played & enjoyed by older children and adults alike. I am in my late 30's & I thoroughly enjoyed it!
I LOVE this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!! November 25, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
"This is awesome" I keep saying to myself. The SLYTHERIN common room is as cool as the WHOMPING WILLOW. It has zero problems and is long and hard. Level 2 (Snapes potion chamber) is really fun!
