5 out of 5 stars Flawless   August 28, 2008
This device works as advertised for my purpose, which is to connect my Samsung Hue via BitPim. I've used the adapter on two systems (both running XP SP3), and it works flawlessly, installing the native XP drivers (no need to install the much more resource-intensive application that ships with the adapter). No hassle at all: switch on the Hue's Bluetooth discovery mode, switch the PC Connection setting to Bluetooth, and the devices communicate without a problem. Then, when you're not using it, just disable the radio in the device manager. In neither case (on my desktop nor laptop) did the native XP Bluetooth drivers consume unreasonable resources. It just works.

5 out of 5 stars Better than expected   August 24, 2008
I've bought this adapter for it's compactness, but I wasn't expecting good signal reception, because it's too small to accommodate antenna. But I was wrong. The signal with this adapter is stronger than of one which came with my notebook. I'm very satisfied with this product, because it's performing better than I expected.

5 out of 5 stars Tiny, Works Perfectly   August 12, 2008
I bought this item because I was tired of searching for a cable every time I wanted to synch my Treo 680 to my laptop. I just plugged it in, Windows detected it and it worked perfectly the first time. There are rare occasions when I have to remove and reinsert the adapter because my Treo cannot connect to it. But otherwise it functions so perfectly that if not for its bright, blue LED I'd forget that it's there.

3 out of 5 stars OK, but difficult to setup.   August 12, 2008
I bought this since I could not get the bluetooth on my Apple MacBook Pro to work with Windows Vista (all other drivers seem to work fine except that one). Had to download drivers (3-in CD would not work in slot-load drive) and after several failed attempts to install gave up. THEN I tried installing off the CD-ROM in my Dell Inspirom 1520 with Windows XP Home (did not get the Bluetooth pre-installed). I had to install three times before it finally worked. Once installed it seems to work great, even got my Wiimote to pair with it, but probably talking about 2-3 hours total trying to install this and on 2 diffent machines before it finally worked. Like the small size, disliked having to repeatedly "play" with the thing to get it to work.

3 out of 5 stars Toshiba BT stack is a liability   August 7, 2008
I have no problem with the hardware, but the Toshiba drivers that come with the device significantly limit its capabilities. Some parts of the software, like Skype integration, are over-engineered. As a result, I could not get Skype to work with this product (perhaps a compatibility issue with the latest Skype release, but I could not find a compatible version or one that was not recognized by Toshiba's drivers -- should have worked fine if the drivers just didn't try to do anything special). There are other peculiarities, like having to forever use the same USB port as the one used during the installation.

I highly recommend considering a similar device based on a Broadcom chipset (sometimes referred to as coming with WIDCOMM drivers).
