Better than iPod Earbuds MOST DEF May 16, 2008 Even if these are not the quality of $100+ earphones, they are definitely worth the 150 Pepsi Points or $30 to upgrade from the CRAPPY Apple iPod Earbuds.
I got these about a week ago and now when I use my stock iPod earbuds I notice how much better these V-Modas are.
Recommended for a low budget person who just needs something better than Apples.
not bad if you have low expectations May 16, 2008 I picked these up as a backup to my Shure E2c and E3c headphones. I gave these three stars for one reason. They sound pretty good and have decent bass response. Having said that, they have absolutely no noise isolation. You can not wear these running or working out and have any hope they will stay in place any more than standard ear buds. Not having an L plug can be an issue depending on your type of player. Having complained enough, if you simply plan to sit at work or home and listen you will enjoy the sound. If you plan to wear on the street, train, subway, etc... forget it. Good value for the price. If you don't want to pay $100 or more for a quality sound isolating pair, grab these.
Great headphones...for the price May 15, 2008 I think I went in expecting a miracle product... but nevertheless, they're great headphones for the price. They seal out any exterior noise very well and sounds great for the price. You could get better sound quality with a different set, but you'd have to pay nearly $75 more. For an affordable alternative to prepackaged earbuds, these do the trick!
Not sure why there are complaints May 15, 2008 I was reading a bunch of the reviews for these earbuds and I wasn't sure what to believe. Some said there was too much bass to the point it hurt and some said there was not enough. I thought it was weird that reviews could be so totally opposite but I ordered them anyways. I love them so far. The bass is perfect, not too overpowering but just enough to feel it. I listen to mostly metal and I can hear the vocals perfectly. I think they're great.
Mediocre sound quality May 13, 2008 Purchased the item based on the good reviews on Amazon and cnet for the Sansa E280 but was very disappointed with the sound quality. The headphones do a decent job of blocking outside noise but the sound quality was not great with quite a bit of distortion. Item was returned to Amazon two weeks ago but so far I haven't recieved a confirmation of receipt and my refund. I'm currently waiting to receive the Maximo iM-490s which I ordered as a replacement and hopefully will perform better.
A quick update: refund was processed by Amazon today. While I wasn't happy with the headphones, the purchasing experience with Amazon was outstanding and really makes me feel at ease making more purchases in the future.
Second update: Just received the Maximo iM-490s yesterday and it took me 5 minutes to realize that I got a winner. No comparison with the v-moda, great bass which doesn't overwhelm the highs, perfect noise isolation and a nice bonus in the form of carrying case and extension cord. I struggle to understand how the v-moda were so highly rated by cnet compared to the Maximo's.
