Absolutely the worst mobo ever made! No doubt. April 10, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This mobo has a major flaw where you can NOT occupy the A slots with certain memory (brands). I bought 8GB of RAM (OCZ2VU8004GK) and can not use all of it. Go figure which RAM brand works and doesn't. I updated to the latest BIOS, which promised more memory compatibility. NOT! Also, one of the heat sinks gets boiling hot, cannot touch - you will burn your fingers. Besides all that, out of 10 reboots, 2 of them get passed the BIOS. I bought this mobo to install OSx86 on it. As of April 10th, you will not get this mobo+Q6600 working with OSx86! VERY disappointed. I should have bought a Mac.
GOOD MOBO but !! have CONFLICT with OCZ REAPER March 31, 2008 (ENGLISH) i buy this mobo for my friend and he buy the last week 2gb of OCZ REAPER 800MHZ but the PC no START .. i try use this with my COMPUTER and START normal, NO IS problem of MEMORY or MOBO only conflict and compatibility no mix this 2 ITEMS .. if no have this problem the mobo can be the best !! ASUS IS THE BEST!
Excellent motherboard for the money February 6, 2008 I got this motherboard for my new mob, I already got a Gigabyte DQ6. My gigabyte is much better of course but it costs almost double, anyway if you're not a pipe cooling fan this one will be okay. Very good overclocker and very good support for Nvidia based graphic cards, but SLI will be only on 8x but I think there's no real difference in performance. I installed it and it was running from the first time, very easy to configure and install drivers. Would definitely recommand this motherboard.
This isn't for Dual Graphics Cards, It only supports 2 cards at 8x each not 16x each. January 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The board is great for one graphics card, and it supports one card at 16x. I am using an 8800gts and they work well together. The problem was when I found out this board only supports dual graphics cards at 8x each for a max of 16x. I know that the next step above this board is about $40 more and it can support dual graphics cards at 16x each.
--I would rate it a 5 if for single card, but I can't believe they would even make a dual graphics card option with less than 16x each because you know anyone doing that will want the best. :)
I am not going to go that far, and if I was I would simply get a new Mobo along with the second card.
-Good luck to ya all
Good Board; Beware of low latency Ram January 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Overall this is a good value board. As a new system builder I had no problem getting this board installed and running. My only problem came with memory compatibility. After several days of suffering through blue screens that prevented me from even getting a clean Windows install I switched out the pair of Corsair 2GB 240 DIMM non-ECC DDR2 RAM (TWIN2X2048-6400C4) Dimms with some plain jane Kingston PC6400's and everything ran smoothly the first time. I talked to one of the guys at frys and he indicated that he had talked to at least one other person who had the exact same problem with low-latency ram on this motherboard.
