Excellent for the Office August 27, 2008 I bought these to replace a set of low-budget Creative SBS260 speakers, which were picking up too much radio interference in my office. It was a worthwhile upgrade. The build quality of the T20s is exceptional (for a pair of computer speakers), from the housings and drivers down to the knobs, which feature a pleasant amount of resistance and center detents for the treble and bass controls. Sound quality is excellent too. The T20s put out a balanced sound with a slight high-midrange push that makes vocals easy to hear; no excessively hyped highs or lows. And they're well-shielded - no more radio interference for me. The only caveat I'd mention is that the T20s' drivers are highly directional, so they don't throw a lot of sound out to the sides. They're like a pair of near-field studio monitors that way. That makes them well-suited for the office, but not so good if you want room-filling sound.
Okay, but not what I expected... August 21, 2008 The Creative Labs GigaWorks T20 2.0 Speakers had pretty good reviews which had a great deal to do with my decision to purchase them. They are beautiful, sleek-looking speakers, however, the sound quality is a bit poor. No matter how I adjust the treble and the bass, the sound has no depth, and basically sounds "tinny". I did a lot of research before I purchased them, and most consumers gave this a good review--so I don't know if it was just my speakers or that others aren't as particular.
Pretty much toy speakers July 19, 2008 I certainly wasn't expecting audiophile quality speakers, but given the other good reviews of these speakers, I was expecting something better than a typical $30 set of computer speakers. I am really really underwhelmed by the sound quality of these speakers. Granted, they are better than the integrated speakers in my monitor, but not by a whole lot. I tried to tweak the EQ settings on my computer, adjust the bass and treble on the units, but they still sound flat. Treble is weak, midrange is missing, and bass is poor. I can't tell that there is any stereo projection. I wasn't expecting great bass since this is a 2.0 system with no subwoofer and I don't really like a ton of thumping low end, either. Good thing that a $20 rebate brought these speakers to about $65. I probably could have paid half for a generic set with the same audio quality though. My old cheapo speakers, circa 2002, actually sound better than these. They almost sound like two mono speakers set next to each other, except that would be insulting to my Tivoli iPAL.
Very Nice Speakers! Sound Great! July 18, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I wanted a small set of speakers with good sound quality for my home office desktop. I didn't need incredibly powerful speakers, but I wanted something I could listen to at moderate intensity levels and receive good sound reproduction.
For overall sound quality, the Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 speakers are better (in my opinion) and the Klipsch subwoofer certainly provides a better gaming experience. But, for my small office space, a subwoofer didn't make sense and these are perfect for listening to music at moderate levels.
With the $20 rebate recently offered, I considered these to be an excellent bargain! However, even without the rebate, I would be pleased with the quality and performance.
Problems after 2 months July 13, 2008 Great sound, but after only 2 months I get loud crackling sounds and channel cutouts when I use the volume control.
