Actually pretty good December 2, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I just bought the Medion PC USB Graphics Tablet which is a rebranded version of this sold in Aldi. It seems that the previous reviewers had defective units as none of the problems noted were apparent with mine. Works like a dream and exceptionally good value. Dropped a star because the plastic the pen's made from isn't the absolute highest quality, but I really wouldn't expect that in this sort of price range.
So bad it's useless September 29, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This tablet is possibly the most pathetic product I have ever purchased. I don't normally write reviews but people need to be warned about this item.
The plug & play worked just fine, but once working the movement is extremely sporadic, if you move the pen in a straight diagonal line the mouse/brush moves in a large irregular stair-step, and I don't mean at the resolution limit of the device, the pen actually wobbles all over the place as you move it straight and the steps are caused by wobbles in the position about an inch in size. Strangely this irregularity has a degree of consistency as if the surface map is horribly warped. The tracking will also skip and jump or even stop then suddenly catch up to the new location. This makes the device completely unusable.
The pressure sensor seemed to work quite well and automatically just worked to adjust the brush size by default in photoshop although I'm skeptical about the advertised number of levels claimed, with a hard pen the smaller sizes seemed quite noisy w.r.t. pressure, but in any-case the poor pen tracking made the whole device utterly worthless.
The claim of 1000 lines per inch resolution is a joke given the inaccuracy of tracking but there was also some very high frequency jitter. This isn't just a bad product, it is utterly broken.
Avoid this product, it simply does not work.
You get what you pay for. September 25, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had hoped to save some cash by purchasing this Aiptek, but it was an absolute horror. Jerky response; built like junk. I returned it the same day and bought a WACOM Graphire, which works like a dream.
Don't consider this product August 11, 2007 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
Hoping that I'd find a bargain in purchasing this item, I was sensationally disappointed by its performance on both Mac OS X Tiger and Windows Vista. It seems that this thing was made from three separate pieces that were essentially glued together. So when you are writing from the top section to the mid section, your writings or drawings will be choppy when rendered on the screen. Same goes for writing from the mid section to the lower section. I lost patience in trying to figure out what in the world was going on with this device for a day and promptly returned it right in the box. I'll be purchasing that "other tablet" which no one seems to have a problem with, though not at the bargain prices. I guess you get what you pay for.
