4 out of 5 stars fun toy   October 9, 2008
I teach math online, and I bought this tablet for two reasons: to easily insert hand-written equations into Flash without having to scan and import image files, and to see what other fun I might have with it.

When I opened the box I just played for about three hours straight. It was great fun. You can set the pressure sensitivity where you want it, and using it with the "brush" tool in Paint or Flash or whatever works really well. Cursive can be entered much more quickly than printed letters... there seems to take a moment to initialize a new stroke or something, so you have to slow down when block printing. I also find that it's quicker to use the pen as a Mouse when I'm in Paint selecting line tools etc. So for drawing and hand writing, it works great.

I tried the text recognition feature, too, in Word, but quickly realized I could type much more quickly than I can write. Might be great if I break my left hand someday or something.

But the product itself is great: plug it right in, do a little tutorial, and you're golden.

5 out of 5 stars Low price for a great tablet!   October 7, 2008
The Bamboo Fun (medium) is the third tablet I've owned. I've gone from Wacom's Graphire 4x6 to an Intuos 3 6x8 to this and I actually like this one the best. The graphire was too small for my needs --drawing and graphic design. The Intuos, after 4 years of almost daily use and abuse and finally a drop on the floor, developed dead spots and was rendered useless.

I chose this tablet over a new Intuos 3 because of it's much lower price, smaller and sleeker design that actually fits in my laptop bag, and the fact that I can't even see the difference between the change in pressure levels.

Things that are awesome about the Bamboo fun:
-Rougher pen surface feels more like paper than with the Intuos
-A mouse that I'll actually use (never once used the mouse with the old two tablets)
-Fits much better on my desk than an Intuos 6x8
-No stupid touch strips where my hand is accidentally going to land every few minutes and zoom way out (Thanks Intuos)
-Detachable USB cable
- No flip up plastic sheet (I never used that on other tablets and all it would do was collect dirt)

3 out of 5 stars ONE MAJOR DESIGN FLAW....   October 2, 2008

Hi,

I have to say I do like this tablet for the money, the only thing you should realize is that there is, I believe, ONE MAJOR DESIGN FLAW.

The USB connector is on the top LEFT Side, which means for the 90-93 % of us whom are RIGHT HANDED and want to keep the tablet to the Right of the Keyboard...The Cord is TOTALLY in the Way.

Its a good tablet, just a very bad placement of USB cable. Should have been in the Middle to accommodate placement on either side of keyboard.

I think next time I would spend a little more for the Wireless one to avoid this issue.

5 out of 5 stars Bamboo Fun Lives Up to Name   September 4, 2008
The Bamboo Fun (Medium) tablet is a wonderful product! It takes mere minutes to setup and doesn't really take up much more room than a mousepad would. Although the mouse that comes with it is a little awkward, it is a welcomed addition for brief usage.

I love the differing levels of sensitivity with the pen and the control it allows. The buttons located on the tablet are programmable and very handy.

For the price, it cannot be beat. It really does live up to the "fun" portion of the its name. :)

5 out of 5 stars Great Product!   August 28, 2008
this is a great product for all ages! I am 13 and using it to write this review! the writing recognition is amazing! It has trouble on capital b. (I had to right capital b because it didn't recognize it.) The pen itself is a bit slipery. I find myself dropping it frequently. But it is much eager to use than I expected! The Adobie Photoshop Elements are very helpful to if you know how to use them! Its almost easyer than pen and paper! Overall, great product! I would highly recommend it.
