Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Get cordless handset convenience when you use Skype! Now when you want to talk to your friends you don't need your computer because the Skype application is pre-loaded on the phone. Of course, the Handset supports SkypeOut dialing as well as your Skype contact list display. It rings when you have a Skype or SkypeIn or standard telephone call coming in, and shows the caller's ID on the screen. The Handset also supports call waiting and Skype's optional Voicemail service. When you're on a call, you can hit the Mute button for privacy, or use the speakerphone function to let everyone join in.

5 out of 5 stars Works great, excellent sound, integrates nicely   July 2, 2008
I got one of the first phones made. It would not link up with base unit. After some frustration with tech support at Linksys, I finally got them to send me a new phone. The new phone synched up perfectly.

This Amazon retailer was very nice and very responsive. I highly recommend them.

It is so nice to have 2 phones posted around the house. The Skype service with a $ 3 a month fee enables us to call any phone in the US or Canada for free.

2 out of 5 stars Just Barely Does the Job   June 14, 2008

Why I do not love this phone:

1. It crashes frequently requiring time consuming phone resets.

2. No speed dial.

3. Sound quality quickly disintegrates.
- By that I mean echoes, static, pauses, and complete silence.

4. Sometimes the phone does not ring at all.

5. At times it refuses my password, which is the right one.

6. To make one call I have to go through many steps. I must dial the number or pull it from my phone book, press the call button, then it asks if I want to make a Skype or landline call, and then I have to respond to that. If I try to fix this functionality (it is fixable in theory), I can't. My phone then crashes, which requires a re-start and my password, which takes about 30 minutes for it to accept. Not fun.

7. There is no redial button either!

8. Not very attractive phone.

9. This phone is not very portable. It pretty much stays at home.

10. It's just not what I'd hoped for, especially after reading such great reviews!

The good things:
1. It is better than nothing, and Skype is cheaper than a land line.

2. It does the job - even if barely.

3. When it is working right, it works ok, with only a slight tunnel-like echo.

4. Not that expensive.

5. Has really cute ring tones.

I may return this phone and try the Phillips one. This phone fills my expectations at the absolute bare minimum. For those who have been reading wonderful reviews of this phone, I provide you words of caution. There are two sides to this story. Note: I do not just have a freak phone. My parents got the same phone, and complain about it regularly.

1 out of 5 stars No expansion hand sets exist!!!   June 14, 2008

They talk about being able to add up to 3 additional expansion hand sets. Guess what? There are none. Not on this site or any other site. Your only option is to buy another base until plus handset and throw away the base unit.

5 out of 5 stars CIT400 costs $89.99. Extra handset CIT400H costs $129.99?   May 27, 2008
Why should the extra handset CIT400H cost more ($129.99)than the box and the handset CIT400 ($89.99)?
Can anybody explain this to me?
Bewildered.

5 out of 5 stars Great Skype & Land Line phone.... bought 2 sets   May 22, 2008
After learning the funky menu set on this, performs EXCELLENTLY. Bought base set and extra phone, TWICE, so I have 2 hand sets in 2 locations side by side for two different land line phone numbers. Performs excellently, with long range.
