The Eee PC also handles your digital images, movies, and music as well as Internet radio.

No technical manual required with the specially designed, user-friendly, and intuitive graphic interface.
Compact and highly portable at just 32 ounces, the Eee PC 2G has a 7-inch wide color TFT LCD with an 800 x 480-pixel resolution (WXGA). Under the hood is a 800 MHz Intel Mobile CPU with integrated Intel graphics processor, 512 MB of RAM (not expandable), and 2 GB of solid-state flash memory. 5 out of 5 stars Love it !   July 18, 2008
Since most places that have WiFi also have electric outlets, I carry
the EEE around without the battery -only the plug in chord. It's light
as a feather !!! The best PC/phone that's every happened to me !

5 out of 5 stars Asus, "A" is for Awesome!   July 18, 2008
I bought two of these little guys for my twin daughters who will be starting middle school next year. They are not gamers and really only want to use email, surf the net, and do homework; for which the Asus is just right. Since they are petite girls, the size of the lap top is perfect for them. The interface is a simple tabbed menu with large icons. The resolution is very nice for such a small screen. The only issues with the wifi we have encountered so far is occasionally we have to re-connect to the router to find a connection. But that's probably a router issue and nothing to do with the Asus. Because there is no hard drive, the lap top is bit more rugged, which is good for kids. I did purchase an 8 gig SD card for each so they could have more space to save homework and the like. We just use Google for things like calendar and docs, so that works well too.

5 out of 5 stars A Superb Buy   July 18, 2008
I love this little guy. He's the perfect portable tool for writing, emails, light organization and editing. I've had no problems with the keyboard or screen being too small. The intuitive interface is well organized and easy to use. I've sewn up a little holder for it and I take it any time I think I'll use it. For the price, this really can't be beat. It has paid me back with portability and more efficient work habits (because I can take him with me to use the odd hour here and there when I'm out) in the first two weeks. GO ASUS!

One thing I was very concerned about was compatibility with my Mac G4. I've had absolutely no problems. All documents and spreadsheets have been seamless. AND, I use Numbers and Pages (the Mac equivalent to Excel and Word, which far overreach these applications.) I just save them as word or excel and open them up in OpenOffice using a flash drive. Again GO ASUS!

The only bad thing I've encountered is slight confusion in connecting to Wireless. Once you do it, it's fine, but the instructions could be a bit more helpful. Also, the dictionary it comes with seems to be a bit lower quality than a Webster, but is still very useful and accessible.

4 out of 5 stars Great for what I wanted!   July 18, 2008
I have a larger HP laptop that I use to work from home. Because its large (so that the kids can watch movies when we travel) and its hooked up to all my peripherals (keyboard, printer, back up, etc), its been a hassle to unplug when I want to work at the java joint. Further, I have wanted to do some fiction writing, but don't want to sit at my work computer to do it. So I bought the ASUS as I thought it would meet my needs for a portable, affordable way to write somewhere other than my home office.

I retrospect, I probably should have bought the 4g one for the additional space. But it didn't come in green. I have a writing program that needs windows to run so by the time I loaded XP and the program, there was little room for anything else (windows likes to have 200 mb free space).

However, I do love it. It jumps online with no problems. The Linux setup with OpenOffice and other sources already on it worked great and I would have kept it if I could have run my writing program. It has 3 usb ports so I'm able to plug in a mouse and flash drive. It has a slot for a SD card as well. I bought the 4g SD card to go with it. Using the card or a flash drive I can move between the ASUS and my regular laptop easily.

The keyboard is small but that's what you get for wanting a small laptop. The only trouble I've had with it is that sometimes I hit the arrow up key instead of the shift key.

The ASUS offers a great little system for an affordable price. I wouldn't expect to run a business on it or have too many applications. But if you're looking for something portable that you can use to access the Internet or write documents, its a nice little system.
