1 out of 5 stars Horrble compare to Microsoft Version   August 3, 2006

I just purchased it today, and I was utterly suprised at it's short coming. I love Quicken, but Quicken for Mac is horrible.

Keep your money.

4 out of 5 stars Regarding "bad math"   February 1, 2006

Another customer had a problem with 10% on 10,000 for one year being more than 11,000. Quicken is not doing it wrong, they are compounding the interest, the way it should be done. There is nothing wrong with the financial calculators, you just not doing math the way financial institutions do.

1 out of 5 stars Quicken miscalculates simple math   December 7, 2005

Quicken for Mac versions 2006, 2005, 2004, and maybe other versions all miscalculate some simple math.

For example, in the investment calculator 10,000 for 1 year at 10% Quicken says yields $11,050.65 when it should obviously be $11,000. The other financial calculators, such as the retirement calculator, have similar math bugs.

Intuit technical support says that it is a known issue but they don't know when they'll fix it. Obviously it hasn't been a high priority since many math bugs have existed in Quicken for Mac for many years. I get the impression that Intuit doesn't work on the Mac version much. Some years ago they even stopped making Quicken for Mac until Apple paid them to hire a Mac developer. I'd choose another progam.

2 out of 5 stars Quicken for MAC disappoints   August 22, 2005

Quicken 2005 works ok, but it has a couple of big problems that make it virtually useless for me. I've used Quicken on Windows for 6 years and have been able to download asset classes for each stock, bond, or mutual fund I own. I manage my investments using assset allocation - ie, by trakcing the % of my holdings large cap, small cap, international, bonds, and cash. Quicken 2005 for Mac doesn't have this function. Also, the whole program works in 9-point font only. Rows and rows of little tiny numbers and you can't change it. Not so great for the aging population of consumers.

2 out of 5 stars For those looking for something OTHER than Quicken   August 20, 2005

I've been reading the Quicken reviews on Amazon and on other locations, and have been sufficiently scared away from purchasing an upgrade to work with Mac OS 10.4. After much searching, I found that there IS another money management system that works with the Mac, called Moneydance. I don't know how well it works, although the reviews I've read have averaged 4 stars. They offer a free trial version to download from their Web site (which is, it seems, the only place where it can be purchased); hopefully, I can determine whether it's going to work for me.

So there is more than Quicken for the Mac. Move over, Intuit!
