5 out of 5 stars It helped me pass   July 9, 2008
I recieved the book 5 days before the test and did not take a course. I took all the test questions and felt confident going in. I passed! Highly recommended

5 out of 5 stars Instrumental in Passing the LEED Exam,   July 4, 2008
The LEED examination is not for the faint of heart. At the minimum, you should know the USGBC Guide by rote. You need to supplement that knowledge using other books. I used three books to study for the LEED exam. I passed the LEED exam on my first try thanks largely to this book. It's clear, concise and well-organized. It has some great tables that make for easy memorization. Clearly written, always on point, and the practice tests were close to what I experienced on the exam. I also found the 100 test taking tips on fact sheets indispensible. In addition to USGBC Referene Guide, this book in my opinion is instrumental in passing the LEED exam. Exceptional resource.

2 out of 5 stars LEEDPASS is a let down   June 30, 2008

I bought LEEDPASS based mainly on the reviews on this website. LEEDPASS does break down information on credits nicely into tables and charts (as expected). However, after taking the actual test, I would speculate that 30-40% of the questions were not adequately covered by LEEDPASS. Mainly, the material does not adeqeuately cover the process and project team involvement. In addition, there are grammatical errors throughout and a number of places where information on credits is contradictory. There are also aren't any explanations to practice questions, so you're often left wondering why questions are right/wrong.

For those taking the test with lots of LEED practical experience, this may be a good resource, but for those learning from scratch, this unfortunately, is not a reliable resource

4 out of 5 stars A good book for LEED AP Exam Preparation   May 4, 2008
8 out of 8 found this review helpful

This is a good book for LEED AP Exam Preparation. The USGBC Reference Guide is comprehensive, but it gives too much information. The USGBC workshop and related handout is concise, but it does not cover extra credits (exemplary performance). LEEDPASS give you enough information to pass the exam. It is concise and can save you a lot of time. It does have some minor errors in spelling and grammar, but I can still understand what the author is trying to say.

It'll be helpful if the author can provide explanatory solutions to example questions. Some of the answers to the book are probably wrong. For example, in order to get to the "correct" answer of the book for questions 375 and 399, you need to think "Provide bicycle rack for 5 percent of FTE within 200 yards" can gain 1 point, but the fact is you need to "Provide bicycle rack for 5 percent of FTE within 200 yards AND provide shower and changing facilities for 0.5% of FTE" to get 1 point.

A few of the "Final Facts" also refer you to "read the entire sheet" for certain pages of the USGBC Reference Guide, this will not help the people who have not bought the Reference Guide at all.

The main purpose of a book is to provide useful information. This book has some weakness but overall it is a good investment for the money you spend.

5 out of 5 stars Good Book for Preparation   April 28, 2008
Written to save you preparation time, the book:
* Helps you identify potential problem areas in your knowledge.
* Review topics not covered in other books for the LEED exam.
* Become acquainted with what the author calls "fact sheets."
* Prepares you for sitting through exam.
* Acquaints you with the type of questions that appear on the exam.

The time spent reviewing LEEDPASS material will focus your attention on material appearing on the exam. It will also broaden your approach to sustainable design from your personal, narrow experience to the broad-based approach tested on the exam.

If you are serious about passing, this book is well-worth the money.
