Amazon.com Review Flight Unlimited has long been recognized as one of the most entertaining and realistic general aviation simulators ever created, and its sequel, Flight Unlimited 2, is even better. Take the controls of planes ranging from a generic version of the popular Cessna 172 to a nimble and fast WWII-era P-51 Mustang as you explore a detailed re-creation of the San Francisco Bay area. The graphics aren't the only feature that set this game apart from the pack. We also enjoyed listening to all the chatter on the fully implemented air traffic control system. Most simulations of this type leave players flying over vast expanses of lonely sky with nobody paying attention to their shenanigans. Buzz the tower or violate your taxiing orders in this game, however, and prepare to hear an earful from the air traffic controllers. It really helped draw us into the environment. Lazily flying around and taking in the sights can get a little dull, but the many canned adventures spice things up by thrusting players into situations that really test their flying skills. Whether it is a pinpoint landing on a mountaintop or precise navigation through miserable weather, we always have our hands full with these challenging missions. Those of you who have Flight Unlimited 3 will definitely want to pick up a copy of Flight Unlimited 2, as the scenery from this game can be imported into the sequel to let players fly from Seattle to San Francisco. --T. Byrl Baker Pros: - Focusing on one small area allows for very detailed graphics
- Wide selection of planes
- Fun adventures
- Some of the best weather effects ever seen in a game of this type
Cons: - Absolutely no combat
- Sometimes air traffic control radio calls don't make any sense
Amazon.com Product Description Depart your local airport and cruise to the San Francisco Bay Area, one of the world's most popular flying venues, to one of 46 different airports. Fly over realistic scenery complete with the actual landmarks, buildings, and roadways you'd need to navigate visually. Or use your instruments to safely navigate in poor visibility and foul weather. Experience adventures and challenges, some of which let you fly in the face of the Federal Aviation Administration.

Great Game June 16, 2000 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This game is great. It has outstanding graphics and the ability to control the plane is awesome. Although there are only 4 planes to choose from the planes are pretty nice. The landscape graphics have some glitches but other than that they're very good. If you can find the game I recommend getting it.
Go buy this game, if you can find it. April 23, 2000 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
Dear Microsoft, Hi, I'm Rishi J. I really love your FlightSimulator series. I've always had fun exploring the world with theamount of incredible detail and accuracy of every city. However, now I have to tell you something. I hope that you take it seriously: Look out Microsoft, you've been beaten at your own game. Flight Unlimited II is one of the best Flight Simulators ever. It offers even more incredible graphics of the entire San francisco Bay Area. While it may seem a tad bit small, it is a lot more fun than flying over empty land for hours before seeing a recognizable landmark as in your Flight Simulator games. I can even see my neighborhood and it looks like I'm really over my house. And buzzing the SF skyline is a thrill that I just can't get in your games because of its' vast scope. And I think that you'd better know about the Air traffic control system with real time navigation. In other words, the COM radio in this game is the most realistic that I've ever seen and it adds a lot of realism. NOW this is as real as it gets. But there's more! The elevation is a lot more realistic and I think that I would know as I live in SF. Even the plane selection is better. Although there are less planes than in your product, the planes are better. Although you don't get the tension associated with piloting a 747, you get the beaver which lets you land on water. What more could you want. All in all, Flight Unlimited 2 is the best Flight simulator that I've ever seen. Please learn from it. I hope that I can see more improvements in Flight Simulator 2003. END
