Felt funny at first but now I understand! October 13, 2008 An identical mouse except for color, cord and touch came with my Asus G2s A1, I was in love and heart broken when it stopped working, probably a short in the cord. To my joy I found his mouse with the added feature of weights and variable resolution control. It feels pretty scratchy when you first wrap your hand around it but I soon became greatful for the grip when playing fps's. I never notice the difference now and love the beefy cord that I expect will last quite some time. I sometimes wish for the days of my glossy feeling mouse, but it is only like remembering an old girlfriend. I like my new one and she does new tricks the old one just couldn't do.
Great for RSI sufferers October 12, 2008 I am a repetitive strain sufferer who works at at the computer 10+ hours a day. I've tried a ton of mice now, both optical and laser, and even tried using a Wacom Tablet for a while. This has been the one that has helped the most with pain. The profile of the mouse is low which helps to maintain a more natural hand posture. Even though the customizable weight cartridge is meant for gamers, it also works great for RSI since one can play around with the weights until they feel most comfortable. And the precision tracking means less effort trying to move the mouse to the target. Highly recommended.
It's all in the size & shape! October 12, 2008 The G5 is a very nice mouse, but if it dosen't fit one's hand, that dosen't matter. My hands don't work very well & I like another reviewer found the hump in the back just didn't work for me. I was amazed that none of the various mice specification say anything about their size, so here are the results of my quest to find out how big mice are:
V220 - 8.8 cm long V320 - 9.8 cm V450 - 10.5 cm L6, L7, L8, MX400, & MX Revolution - 12.3 cm LX7 - 12cmx 5cm x 2.5cm (long x wide x high) MX518-12.5 cm MX620 - 12.8 cm G5 - 12.5 cm G9 - 10.5 cm Microsoft Basic Optical Mouse - 11.2cm x 5.1cm x 4.2cm Microsoft Laser Mouse 6000 - 12.4cm x 6.7cm x 4.2cm Razer DeathAdder - 12.6cm x 6.9cm x 4.5 cm
Sorry no shape factor. I bought the DeathAdder & it also is a very nice mouse & better yet, it works for me.
Amazing October 11, 2008 A friend of mine had this mouse and recommended it to me. It is great for FPS's and very comfortable. I am not sure how I feel about changing the weight of the mouse though.
Finally a real mouse, that is also sturdy! October 2, 2008 This thing just feels so solid, and perhaps it is worthy of the time element too, able to go down the road a few years or more.
Greatest thing, believe it or don't, was that I was able to program one of the buttons as the keyboard's "Pause/Break" key .... and it works as pausing in games just great. I was really elated! One of the teflon pads was a tad off position so I was worried the teflon might catch on the mouse pad and start peeling off or something, but pushed, shoved, and pinched it down with fingernail and all is well with no problems cropping up. This is the New G5 with the blue leopard skin, so don't confuse with the earlier one that I think only has one thumb button, as this has two and love that! Works well in tandum with the G11 Gaming Keyboard. Together they Rock!
Of course, Amazon.com rocks too, there were initial problems with ordering and getting a discount awarded to me, but customer service was simply imaculate ......... these days it is hard to find a company so willing to satisfy the buyer and being absolutely fair in all dealings. I should get some stock with them as I feel they will be around for a long time! Jeff "The Home ComputerGuy" in TX thehomecomputerguyfromtexas.com
