WILL NOT work on WindowsXP 64 bit November 20, 2008 Did everything I could think of to make it work. Just not designed for WindowsXP 64 bit
Just plug and print October 28, 2008 Pros: Easy to set up; fairly flexible cable easy to run neatly from printer to computer; like the color and look of the braided cable
Cons: Not as long as advertised, though plenty long combined with parallel cable of the printer; mispellings on the packaging :)
Set up was a breeze for my HP LaserJet 1100 and Vista x64 computer. There's no manual and one part did trip me up for a brief moment (couple seconds), so if you're unsure, here are the steps I took. Certain variations of the sequence would probably also work. 1) Attach parallel end 2) Plug USB end into computer 3) Power on printer (an important step) 4) Computer recognizes and adds the exact printer model (how?!) 5) Print!
So in summary just plug and play (great job on this Windows). I wonder if this will work with a wireless print server. Even though parallel port print servers exist, converting to USB with this cable could in the end could be cheaper and offer more choices of print servers too.
Works as promised August 20, 2008 Plugged it in and my computer (Vista) recognized it right away. So far, so good!
Works perfectly on Vista computer with older single function printer (HP722C) August 19, 2008 This cable worked perfectly for my HP 722C on a brand new Dell PC with no printer port. I had read in reviews or somewhere else that these cables would not hep if your printer was multifunction (or that only the printing function would work), so since my printer was just a printer, this cable worked fine.
Was deliverd within about 3 days from the order.
It works only for printers May 9, 2008 If you want to connect other parallel devices, like scanners, this converter does NOT work! Select a PCMCIA to Parallel Port Card instead!
