Product Description The USB 2.0 to IDE Drive Adapter from Cables To Go implements a bridge between one USB port and one ATA or ATAPI based mass storage device port. The USB 2.0 to IDE Drive Adapter turns any IDE drive into a convenient external drive. Easily transfer files from computer or notebook, back up files, or store large file archives on hard drives. The Hi-Speed USB interface provides for easy installation with its Plug and Play design. The adapter supports all existing IDE/ATAPI devices such as Iomega Zip, CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-ROM and IDE hard drives.

Wouldn't work on multiple systems March 13, 2008 Got one of these today and so far it hasn't worked at all. I've tried three (working) IDE drives and a laptop drive. The best success I've had is for the adapter to show up in Device Manager, but the drive never appears in My Computer. Of course, this is Vista's doing, I'm thinking, but I tried it in my WinXP PC with the same results. Apparently I got a defective unit but I won't be asking for a trade-in.
Works Great! July 17, 2007 This was so quick and easy to use that my husband transfer all the old files by myself! Just plug it in and it works!
A master piece for an IT Department February 22, 2007 This little kit has been resolving problems since it's purchased. Is faster and never undetected any HDD.
IDE Hard drive adaptor February 12, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you have hard drive to test or check contents of, this is the easiest way to do it. A single usb connection and connecting the external power adaptor (included) spins most drives right up and you can check contents, etc. through "My Computer - external devices. Works every time.. except of course when the drive being tested is defective - which is usually what you are trying to find out in the first place.
Great for Windows or Mac July 17, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Great product! I recently switched to a laptop and purchased this adapter to regain use of my desktop hard drive.
The adapter worked perfectly under Windows XP and Mac OSX with no installation needed. In both environments the hard drive appeared plug-and-play as just another HDD attached -- just as if I plugged in a USB memory stick.
I purchased this particular USB-IDE adapter because it has the USB hi-speed logo, CE, and FCC certifications.
