Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This card is stand-alone Ultra 100/133 PCI to IDE/ATA host controller is the perfect single chip solution for designs based on chipsets without an integrated IDE host controller or designs which need to expand the number of IDE channels to accommodate the growing number of storage peripherals with IDE interface. This card is a PCI 2-channel Ultra ATA/133 IDE host controller based on SILICON IMAGE, with optional RAID 0, 1/0+1 function. Any system with a PCI bus interface can simply add the Ultra 100/133 IDE/ATA interface by adding a card with the PCI card and loading the driver into the system.

5 out of 5 stars Worked perfectly for me   September 8, 2008
I'm not sure about the problems others here had.
I plugged the card in a pci slot.
Booted up computer.
XP recognized it and asked for the drivers.
Drivers installed and it worked fine.
I have 2 500 gig WDs slaves hooked to it and they are working fine.
My Master drive is a sata.
I had 2 ATA IDE drives from my old system that I wanted to add to my new computer.

4 out of 5 stars Great Budget RAID Controller   July 31, 2008

I've used this product in two machines now and it works great for setting up small office servers. I have one running on an XP Pro machine and using it for a Web and FTP server. It works flawlessly. Great product for a person on a budget!

4 out of 5 stars Works fine so far   May 17, 2008

I installed this card with two old IDE hard drives connected to it. It works fine so far. The read/write speed is pretty good (20-30MB/s).

Here is some information for people having trouble with installation of this card:

First try not to connect any IDE devices to the card before installing the driver. My system (Vista Home Premium) recognized the card immediately and installed the default driver. However, since this card has a RAID controller, the system automatically intalled the RAID version of the driver. I am not setting up RAID, so I uninstalled the device driver and re-installed the non-RAID driver manually. The chipset on this card is Silicon Image Sil-680. The appropriate drivers for different systems can be found on the chipset manufacturer's website. Use those drivers to install. The document and driver CD that came in the box are very poor and confusing. After installing the driver, if it still doesn't recognize your hard drive, check a few things. Take off the jumper on the hard drive. If you have two hard drives, try connect one to each IDE port on the card. Try re-insert the card into the PCI slot. These things helped me to get it work.

1 out of 5 stars Doesn't work with Vista   February 11, 2008

I've heard nothing but bad things about Sabrent products. I can't say that it is junk. It didn't work with Vista. I have a sneaky feeling that it won't work with XP either, but I can't prove it.

1 out of 5 stars Useless   December 6, 2007

Windows XP refused to load the drivers from both the install disk and from their website. This happened on two different systems. The install disk has drivers for several devices, so it was difficult even finding which one to pick. In the end, none of them worked.
