Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Incorrect part for U.S. electricity   December 15, 2007
This product is supposed to supply power to a laptop by both a cigarette outlet in a vehicle or through an electrical outlet. The electrical outlet plug supplied is not compatible with U.S. electricity. I returned it twice and still got a plug that can not be used in the United States.

5 out of 5 stars Always buy official IBM / Lenovo manufactured accessories, others have been known to catch fire and you use at your own risk.   August 10, 2007
Always buy official IBM / Lenovo manufactured accessories, others have been known to catch fire and you use at your own risk.

When using power components for IBM and any other notebook it is important to use official components to ensure they are made to the highest standards. Other cheaper or generic components can catch fire.

My assertions aren't based on any type of nationalism or "anti - foreign" fervor as recently witnessed by the outrage over tainted pet food and toothpaste. On the contrary, Lenovo is a Chinese based company and is one of the oldest suppliers of components to IBM ThinkPads even before IBM sold the business to Lenovo. IBM also contractually required Lenovo to maintain the same high standards as conditions of the sale.

With all of that, one might wonder about how could Sony make so many batteries that could catch fire and sell these batteries as OEM to companies like Dell, Apple and IBM? The answer is quite simply that Sony's idea of high standard is most often substandard by real world guidelines and this is reflected in the declining opinion of their consumers.
