Amazon retread October 6, 2007 Amazon sold this clearly used product as new, and when I complained, I was told that If unhappy, I could return it and one of you other fine people would probably receive this item as new when it really wasn't. I'm considering filing complaints against Amazon for this transaction. Why don't I return it? Amazon said it couldn't replace it with a real new GPS, and since I've purchased several companion items through Ebay, those companion items would be a total loss. Thanks Amazon for negotiating a fair settlement (NOT)! I'm very leery of purchasing anything similar through Amazon and have relayed my experience to my family, friends and fellow coworkers. BUYERS BEWARE!
ok. GPS given the price, though crashed multiple times. September 15, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is my first GPS, and I'm ok. with it, given the price. It crashed two times when driving (both when going to Dallas around Waco. I had to reset it. And once it completely went silent, and I had to do another reset. Fortunately reset is easy, through a switch on the back, but resets loses your preferences (but not favorites, fortunately). Every time I reset, I have to go and change time zone, display etc.
While driving, it finds the satellites in about a minute, and it quickly calculates the route. If off-route, it quickly recalculates.
This would be the perfect GPS if it was not crashing from time to time.
Confusing info September 13, 2007 Used it in LA, I'm from Id. Did get very confusing @ times.. told me to merge to the far left of a 5 lane freeway, then told me to exit on the right @ the next exit! Barely made my exit..Another time it guided me to meet friends for Dinner in Burbank fr my motel..on 101, when I learned from my friend, had I taken 118...I would've got faster & it wouldve been easier, as the restaurant was right off of 118. Also everytime I turn it on it goes to Hotsprings Montana as my current address..customer service was not helpful, just said they will do that, nothing he can do about it.. But for driving other than large cities, it is handy.
hardware and software failure September 6, 2007 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
1) tip of the 12V power plug is broken when I open the box. Why quality control did not catch it before ship it out? 2) the GPS software freezed up twice during my 3 hours long trip. Each freeze requires multiple hard resets to clear. each hard reset take 3-5 min to complete. I don't think the risk and I took and my time wasted with HGPS35 worth the money I saved.
Nice Pdt September 4, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Works very nicely. Recalculates your route fast if you make a wrong turn etc. I disagree sometimes with the route it takes, but all GPS systems have that fault I am told. I live in a city where there is no grid system at all (Pittsburgh, PA) so this comes in very handy. It could be a bit louder to hear over the stereo, but at $140 I'm not complaining too much.
