Product Description The Logitech Harmony 1000 features a brilliant 3.5" color touch screen that allows for one-touch activity-based control of even the most sophisticated A/V components. Say goodbye to the wasted time and unnecessary complexity of multiple remotes controlling multiple devices; Logitech's patented Smart State Technology makes it easy! Control your HDTV, adjust aspect ratios, or change sound modes - there are no complicated macros to program. Just press an on-screen activity icon and Harmony does the rest. The Harmony 1000's sleek shape and brushed aluminum surfaces will look right at home as the centerpiece of your digital living room. One remote is all you'll need to control even the most complex home entertainment systems. And when used together with a Harmony RF Wireless Extender (sold separately), you can further reduce clutter by placing your components out of sight. Since the remote can transmit both infrared and radio frequency commands, you can control equipment inside a cabinet or even in the next room.

Great remote with minor flaws!!! July 17, 2008 I really do like this remote, but a few things stopped me from giving it a full 5 stars.
1. Some of the buttons are too small, somewhat often I'll press the wrong button on accident because the buttons are too small and close together. In fact, I'll often hit the help button on accident and have to close out of that menu to get back to the current activity.
2. While this remote does a better job with my Tivo than the newer Harmony One, there is still just a bit of lag time vs. the original Tivo remote.
3. This is stupid, but I would prefer it had a clock on screen at all times. The Harmony One does.
Other than those minor things, this remote rocks. The color touch screen is well organized. I like the additional buttons in each corner to be able to give you more setting to press, (star= extra buttons that you don't have room for on the main screen; 123= keypad; play/pause= main/home screen). Being able to program special hotkeys to you're liking is excellent. The size of this remote is perfect, I was pleasantly surprised at how slim yet comfortable it fit in my hands and how light it was.
nice looking [...] July 16, 2008 I have had this remote for about a year and a half and have used it only sparingly. It's big bright and beautiful. It however is way over priced and difficult to navigate. Because it is primarily touch screen driven one will often touch the wrong area and launch an activity or function that you didn't want to occur. My screen has gone dead. The battery contact is broken and the 499 dolloar remote is kaput. I do have two other remotes from logitech that I love. The harmony One is the best hands down. The 880 is a good workhorse. I know the price on the 1000 model has dropped significantly but there is a reason for this. Save yourself a big headache and get the Model One instead. It got a five star rating in Macworld Magazine. The Giz Wiz also loved it.
Good touch screen remote to control everything July 15, 2008 Here is what I control with my Harmony 1000 (and rf extender):
1. Apple TV 2. Polk xrt 12 XM Radio 3. Bose 48 Lifestyle system 4. Cox HD DVR 5. Sony Digital Photo Album 6. Pioneer PRO 150FD Plasma 7. LG BH 200 Blu Ray Player 8. iPod
All activites work flawlessly 99% of the time. The TV channel favorites also work pretty well (it took a while to get the images and to add them to the remote)
Programming the remote online has a small learning curve, but in the end is a very powerful environment to allow you to get things just right.
I upgraded from the Harmony 880 and the 1000 is significantly better in all respects. The rf feature is critical.
One important downside is that I was unable to get the 1000 to work with multiple rf extenders. It did not know what signals to send where! Hence, loss of 1 star. For now my Apple TV is controlled only via ir, the others via rf.
The build quality, like all Logitech products is pretty good. I picked this over the Philips Pronto touch screen because of price and the ease of programming the Harmony v. the Philips. The Philips however, does have a nicer display and the build quality on the Philips is also more hefty.
Harmony 1000 July 14, 2008 Excellent Product and great price had some programming problems at first but tech support at Logitech helped me through it.
CONVENIENT REPLACEMENT July 13, 2008 THE LOGITECH 1000 ADVANCED UNIVERSAL REMOTE IS A PRETTY HANDY REPLACEMENT FOR MULTIPLE REMOTES FOR MY "HOME THEATRE" SYSTEM...I USED TO HAVE MY REMOTES VELCROED TO THE WALL NEXT TO MY EASY CHAIR IN THE LIVING ROOM...A FRIEND CAME OVER AND SAID, "MY GOD MAN, THIS LOOKS LIKE A COUCH POTATOES WET DREAM!"...I HAD TROUBLE WITH THE ORIGINAL UNIT THAT WAS SENT TO ME, BUT THE TELEPHONE SUPPORT PEOPLE SENT ME A BRAND NEW ONE (AFTER ABOUT A 10 DAY WAIT)SO THEY STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT...PROGRAMMING THE NEW ONE WAS A REAL NIGHTMARE (BUT IF YOU'RE BETTER WITH A 'PUTER THAN I AM, AND WHO ISN'T, THEN YOU WILL PROBABLY HAVE FEW, IF ANY, PROBLEMS)...IT IS SIMPLE TO USE, WHEN YOU PICK IT UP IT COMES ON AND ASKS YOU WHAT YOU WANT TO DO AND THEN IT DOES IT FOR YOU...EVERY REMOTE I HAVE IS PROGRAMMED INTO IT (INCLUDING THE LASER DISC PLAYER THAT I BOUGHT ABOUT 12 YEARS AGO...HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN SINCE YOU SAW A LASER DISC???)...THE UNIT LOOKS PRETTY SLICK SETTING IN IT'S LITTLE CHARGING STAND AND IT WORKS AS GOOD AS IT LOOKS...ALL IN ALL...I'D GIVE IT A THUMBS UP
