Amazon.com Product Description The Griffin Technology 9781-TRP30BK iTrip FM Transmitter with LCD and Dock Connector for iPod lets you avoid the hassle of bad reception and bad music on your car's radio by transmitting your iPod's music directly to your FM radio. iTrip features a clear, backlit LCD screen that makes setting the digital tuner easy and intuitive. A switch on iTrip's side controls the broadcast frequency, but with iTrip's memory of broadcast settings, you might find yourself not changing the frequency often. The selectable LX or DX modes ensure optimal reception levels and cut background noise that would disturb your listening pleasure. It all comes in a compact, self-contained design that helps you control iTrip when you're busy coping with traffic. iPod Compatibility iPod nano 1G, iPod nano 2G, iPod mini, iPod 3G, iPod 4G (Clickwheel), iPod Color, iPod 5G/5.5G Video
Product Description The coolest iPod accessory in the world is now available for the coolest iPod in the world - the jet black iPod U2 Special Edition. The iTrip FM transmitter for the iPod can play your music through any FM radio - in your car, at a party - anywhere the mood strikes you and there's a radio.iTrip is made specifically for the iPod. This gives iTrip advantages over similar devices. For example, with the iTrip, you can have the cleanest possible signal, because you can choose any radio station on the FM dial to tune for the best performance. You do this by 'playing' special station codes directly from the iPod itself. Simple.Another advantage of the iTrip is that it needs no batteries - it receives its tiny amount of power from the iPod. No more batteries ever again. There's not even a power switch - just plug it in and go. It shuts off automatically after 60 seconds of silence, just like the iPod.The iTrip is the ultimate accessory for the iPod because it allows you to share the music and share the fun beyond your headphones. Don't leave home without it.

very useful.. October 7, 2008 It's a very nice way to listen to your Ipod in the car, but of course it's not very clear though.
Good device for in-city driving September 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When this device works, your iPod sounds almost as good as a radio station coming through your stereo head in your car. An iTrip is great, if you are driving in one city where you know where the 'dead air' is and can pretty much leave your iTrip tuned to one or more channels.
I'd also suggest you find the location in the car where the iPod works well and leave the iPod there. Moving the iPod around causes annoying static and feedback.
If you're going on the road, you're going to spend a lot of time going through the channels to find dead channels to play your iPod through. Plus, high power lines and truckers interfere with your transmission. On a 200-mile trip, we had to change the channel for the iPod to play more than 5 times and there were some spots where the static was so bad, we couldn't get reception at all.

Works Great September 16, 2008 My brother had one of these, and it didn't work so well in his car. But mine works almost flawlessly in my van. I'm guessing that it has a lot to do with the quality and reception sensitivity of your car radio, as well as where you are able to position this transmitter. My ipod sits in a bracket mounted to an AC vent, and the transmitter hangs right in front of the car radio. If it's moved more than a foot or so away from the radio, it starts breaking up. But right there where it sits while I'm driving, the reception is amazing; not a single crackle of static; it's as if it were plugged straight into the sound system. Amazing. I'm very happy with this device.
Great! September 16, 2008 The iTrip is a great device for listening to iPods in the car. It is nice and clear when it broadcasts on a blank station.
It works on all cars, old radios, and anything with FM.
It uses the iPod battery, so that's one less thing to worry about. It also only turns on when the iPod plays music. It is good energy saver.
Some people may have trouble finding stations. This website help with that. It finds the best radio station and it works! http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/vacant
It has decent range but keep in mind that some cars have their antennas at the back of the car, so if someone is not in the backseat it may be a problem. If the antenna is at the back and the iPod is at the front, the audio quality won't be too good.
Don't forget the iPod when you leave the car!
Other than that, it works like it should.
deece! September 15, 2008 I like the griffen ITRIP for all the obvious reasons, it is wireless which makes it easy to grab your ipod when jumping in someone elses car, or even at work when the radio SUCKS you can just use that....etc.
it DOES drain the battery though, only downside to it, but that is expected of this type of device. I do know that there are ITRIPS that come with the adaptor cord, mine didnt. so you may want to email the seller to find that out ~ although, i didnt expect mine to anyway.
all in all, i think it is a decent buy!
