The Targus Stowaway portable keyboard for Sony Clie enables you to quickly and comfortably enter text into your handheld without having to carry around a full-size desktop keyboard. The Stowaway keyboard is a full-size keyboard when open but folds instantly to about the size of your Clie. This portable keyboard has the same key spacing as a standard desktop keyboard so it's comfortable to use. Plus, at only 7.9 ounces it won't weigh you down. This Stowaway keyboard is compatible with Sony Clie PEG-N760C, PEG-N610C/S, PEG-N610C/V, and PEG-S320 models. It is not compatible with T415 and T615 models. Installation of the Keyboard application onto your Sony Clie is easily accomplished during a typical HotSync. (To prepare the app for HotSync, simply add it to Install Tool on Windows.) Because the keyboard only needs power while it is actually being used, the effect on the overall battery life of your Clie will be minimal. To operate the keyboard with your handheld, click the Stowaway open from its folded position, lay it flat, and slide the keyboard parts together (it's separated into thirds for folding). Then, simply attach your handheld and start typing in a text-based program. You can do virtually all your work without taking your fingers off the keyboard with the Stowaway. The four custom keys on the right side of the keyboard (Date Book, Address, To Do List, and Memo Pad) are preprogrammed shortcut keys to activate certain applications, but they can be customized with the Keyboard application. Placing the keyboard on a firm, flat surface offers the best results, because of the folding design. Don't make assumptions. I was referred to this keyboard after buying a Clie PEG-SJ22u. It doesn't work with this model. I've since come back and taken the time to read the full product description, which is accurate. I'm sure that this keyboard works fine with the models it is designed for, but be sure that you confirm that it works with your model before you buy. Amazon doesn't always direct you to accessories that work with your PDA. I assumed otherwise, and found out the hard way that I was wrong.
 Better than expected...improves capabilities & efficiency December 18, 2002
This keyboard enables me to essentially replace many of the reasons for using my laptop on the train to/from home. I can send/respond to email, write memos, even create simple Excel spreadheets...quickly and easily versus using the stylus alone. I am thoroughly impressed with this product. If you really want to fully explore the capabilities of your Clie, I highly recommend this product.
Solid Product September 23, 2002
The keyboard has a solid feel to it - like typing with a laptop -and its light and small enough to carry around. I don't think it would fit in a trouser pocket as some reviewers have suggested but it won't take up too much room in a bag. The support for the PDA feels a little flimsy and the software supplied on the CD didn't work. I had to download a more recent version from Targus' website which didn't prove a major chore.

I found this keyboard works well with the Clie. I use the 610 version, and only needed to download the latest software from targus to make it work. So make sure the CD that comes with the keyboard is the latest version. Good tactile feeling when typing.

Requires a rather spacey flat surfact to work on, so you might have to carry a hardcover book with you if the room doesn't have a foldout table. Other than that, this product, along with my clie 760 has really made note taking a breeze in college, and having all the files saved on my computer makes indexing that much easier. Overall, I would highly recommend this product, along with a small PDA over any laptop.
