Lifesaver on long car rides July 8, 2008
We bought this portable DVD player probably 18 months ago to keep our daughter (now 3) occupied on long car trips. It's been great! Very reliable and she loves the large screen. I just wish you could adjust the volume with the remote. We thought about an integrated system in our next vehicle but do prefer the portability.

I received this item in a reasonable amount of time and took it on vacation. This is the first time that I ever purchased a Coby product. I was not able to hook the DVD player up to the TV in the motel room. My traveling companion and I were able to watch it without the headphones. Both picture and sound quality were excellent. I am completely satified with my purchase and would recommend it to others.

Love it!!! The Coby works great. The remote control takes a bit of study but all the features are there... The battery lasts about 3 hours. More than enough for a good movie... The screen is beautiful. Unit is very reliable.
Get the Case Logic brand travel bag to go with it ($29 Amazon). The bag is well padded and has room for all the accessorie and the player.
When you first open the unit a small plastic insert holds the player head for shipping.. I would recommend keeping this insert and when you travel use it to secure the head. The head is the most delicate part of all players.
I used it all summer when TDY. I had a full size player in the apartment but the Coby was better and had better sound on the earphones. Plus the movable screen made for comfortable viewing.
The two earphones are super nice and has the new head band that is very comfortable, super duper sound quality....
The Coby is not a toy and not recommended for kids...
The overall construction is metal and good plastic.

I really like this portable player, has good sound and great picture. Just a bit heavier than I expected. Just bought it a couple months ago and I am sad to see I paid $50 more than it sells for now. :(

Fills my need. August 30, 2007
I had bought the 3 season set of the show "Deadwood", and needed some way to play it without upsetting the rest of the family. The language in this show is really really bad. Sitting in the basement and watching it is uncomfortable so I bought this Coby player after reading some of the reviews on here. I find the audio and video to be as well as expected and don't have a single complaint; however, I use this sitting on my sofa and not in a vehicle, so I can't speak to the method most people use a portable dvd player. I also have played only pre-recorded dvd's and cant speak to home made copies. If I had to come up with a complaint for balance, it would be that the headsets provided (2) hurt my ears. Overall I finds this excellent value.
